    Good Morning, Monday, May 13

    Good morning all,

I hope everyone had a wonderful Mother's Day. Jim's family took me out for lunch. Yep that was about it for around here. Thankful we were able to spend time together. Jim's crew called on the way home from church last night. I guess I should have said Jim's in laws took me to lunch. Jim's bunch was in IN.

There's another up coming baby shower. Yep, another one! lol, I think I'll quilt the Open Gate's quilt and pack it up for that one. The invitations have sunflowers on them, I think the daisy borders will be nice for a little girl. That's about it for my plans today.

Nothing much else planned for today. Prayers for those in need, for healing touches, for comfort and peace, for grace and mercy. Prayers of thanksgiving for all of our many blessings.

    Good morning!

It's going to be near 80 today. It may or may not rain. There is rain in the forecast almost every day this week. Today is my remote day. I'm looking forward to opening up the windows.

I need to run up to the grocery store on my lunch hour. I want to go a little earlier than usual so I can throw some chicken in the crock pot for future meals. I really need to limit how often I buy lunch. I got in the habit of eating lunch out when I was without a fridge last year. Truth be told, I like the variety; being single, if I buy lunch meat, I have to eat it every day and that gets boring. But, eating out is more calories and I really do need to lose some weight.

I did not spend any time in the sewing room yesterday. I'm stalled on the alter ego quilt. I have other projects to work on, but none of them are calling my name.

Time to finish my tea and power up the work computer. Have a wonderful day!

Taking a break from the alter ego quilt will give your brain time to sort through all the layout problems and possibilities and file them away so you can see “fresh” when you go back to it.

Good morning Katrina and everyone. The first morning it’s been warm enough to open the door this early, but the temperature is supposed to drop later with rain.

I got a lot accomplished yesterday. Put the first coat of varnish on one of my trellis boxes, cooked up a batch of chicken breast, and finally got the binding on my flower quilt and started hand sewing it to the back. That is going to take awhile! My neighbor gave me homemade chocolate chip cookies for Mother’s Day. That was so nice!

Canadian wildfires are starting to affect our air quality here. Supposed to get into the “unhealthy for sensitive groups.” I have asthma. I had to go to the ER once last summer when it got into the hazardous zone. If anyone is interested, you can download the EPA Air Now app. It gives you the current air quality and the outlook for the day for your area. The smoke does cause spectacular sunrises and sunsets, though. How are our Canadian friends doing?

Today will be another coat of varnish and more work on the binding.

Hope you all have a great day!

Hey Jan, can you tell me more about your trellis boxes? I think that's what I've been looking for to create some privacy on my deck.

You can get them at Home Depot, Lowe’s, etc. Google “planter boxes with trellis.” They come in different sizes. I’m using them for privacy on my patio. I got mine on Amazon:

Good morning. I had a good weekend. I sewed most of the day Saturday. Saturday night I helped out at the community centre for a birthday party. I was kitchen duty. There was so much food I brought some home.

Yesterday I was treated to breakfast in bed. Went to church and a drive. Had lunch in Calabogie at a bistro, my meal was good, Les' not do good. Stopped in Renfrew for a few groceries.

Today I have a dentist appointment at 1 today.

    Have a great day everyone.
Blessed are the children of the piecemakers for they shall inherit the quilts!

Good Morning. I hope everyone had a good Mother’s Day. I had a sweet Mothers’s Day. I got a few calls and later in the day we Face Timed with my daughter and her family, including Miss Jane. She’s teething again and a little out of sorts.but that doesn’t stop her from being adorable and so funny. Jeff and I had chicken for dinner and homemade strawberry shortcake for dessert. I got a nice gift card from M* from my DD and a box from Jane should get here today. Kaytie made the matching outfits for herself and Jane. This is only the second time I’ve seen Jane wearing shoes. The second picture is my daughter with Jane. Jane adores her Mimi.

      IMG_5787.jpg IMG_5781.jpg

I’ve got to hand it to Amazon. Late Friday Jeff told me his Mom wanted a big crockpot for Mothers Day. I ordered one from Amazon to be sent to her and they indicated it would arrive tomorrow.
It arrived yesterday morning! I don’t have Amazon Prime, so this was exceptional service. Go Amazon!

I guess I’ll get moving and see if I can get a border sewn on my quilt top.

Have a great day everyone. 💝

Good morning! My Mother’s Day was low key with no relatives around. But I did get to do fun stuff. After breakfast, then Mass, I went to JoAnns to look for fabrics for dresses for my upcoming show. I found 8 different fabrics. Each woman in the show needs 2 dresses, one for the part of the show set in 1924 and one for 1946. Quite a different look for both of those eras.

Then I went to a matinee of the show Anything Goes. The leading lady was a gal I worked with in several shows for other groups. She did a great job. The director was directing for her first time, some of the staging showed her inexperience. I felt things were moving a little slow and I was getting bored. Then they came on stage wearing tap shoes, first a group of 5, then 10 more, then the whole cast! That livened things up tremendously!

No fancy food for me. Found this on my porch when I got home! My kind of bouquet! No watering needed!

IMG_1438.jpg It looks real in the photo! It’s folded cardboard!

A bird did a doodoo on my windshield yesterday, I think I will go to the car wash today, even though it looks like rain. Need to get that mess cleaned off!

Hope you hav3 a great day!

      Good morning,

It rained on and off all day yesterday, so I decided to postpone yardwork. I got texts from both kids. It seems my son has a nasty cold, and asked if I was ok, since we were together all day Friday. I'm fine, but I suspect he picked up some allergens when he was inspecting the attic at his new place. He was coughing a lot when he got out. He wore a mask, but insulation can be nasty. My daughter said the boys did well in their respective hockey tournaments. All were back home after dinner. My step-son dropped by with the grands and hydrangea plant and chocolates for my birthday. DIL was out with her family. After lunch, I finally finished piecing all the Hunter Star blocks, rows, etc. I had extra blocks so I made 2 small table toppers. I didn't want to make the quilt larger. It's 60 x 82. I've also pulled out my GF's quilt, and decided I am not going to cut and reassemble the blocks, but fix what I can. I'm sure once it's quilted out, it will look great. Her blocks are beautiful, but I don't think she squares them up before assembling rows, so they don't match up and there are bunched-up areas. I can fix this easily, I hope.

For dinner, I cooked a prime rib with mushrooms, mashed potatoes and veggies. It was a better meal than we had at Lone Star.

Today, I have to pull out passport and pack my bag for tomorrow's road trip to Vermont. It's going to be an early morning rise at 3:30am, to be at my GFs for 5:15, where 2 other ladies are joining us, and we have to get to the pick up spot before 6am.

Forecast today is more rain, with a chance of sewing and laundry. Easy left-over meals.

      Enjoy your day.
Enjoy life and do what makes you happy. Everything else will follow.

Good morning. It's nice and sunny here. Maybe some outside time will happen today.

Yesterday was sort of grey, drizzly day for a good portion of the day. But that's ok. I got to relax and do some reading, quilting and baseball watching along with a couple of video chats and phone calls and video messages from the boys, girls and grands. I got some beautiful flowers from my boys too and delicious breakfast and dinner cooked by Charlie. A very lovely day.

I'm not sure just what will wind up getting done today. I've just been doing a bit of this and that so far. One thing for sure is that we need to move the carseat for Tessa out of Charlie's car and put it in mine since I will need it tomorrow and Thursday. I also want to drive the route to her school. We have been there but I have never done the driving and I do better knowing where I'm going if I have actually driven the route myself.

That's it from here. Have a good start to this new week. I hope there is some sunshine in everyone's day.

          Morning all,

A sunny day here. Yesterday was overcast till the afternoon when the sun came out. Was a quiet day here relaxing after all the family on Saturday. We went to the cemetery yesterday morning with flowers for the graves. My grandson came by yesterday afternoon as he was away on Saturday. We had a nice visit and he brought me a beautiful orchid plant to add to my collection. This one is a pink speckled one. One of my other orchids is still in bloom from the beginning of February. I love that the flowers last so long when they bloom.

Today I hope to get in the sewing room and do some more cutting for the hot pads and get a few more kitchen towels embroidered. So far I 've been keeping up on my resolution of cleaning up the sewing room after each work session, didn't think I 'd last this long. 😂😂

Well coffee is finished time to get the daily chores started. Wishing everyone a good day!

Good morning. Yesterday was a quiet one. After early Mass, I just couldn't get into anything. Finally, in the afternoon I got busy and quilted a top that had been lingering around a few years. Today I will prepare and start stitching the binding on. I also finished the bindingon the selvage quilt.

This afternoon is my bee. I need to decide what to work on there. Have a great day and think of something that makes you smile.

Went to Nags Head Saturday to see MIL and spent the night at BIL. Had a nice visit. BIL arranged a mothers day lunch at a very nice restaurant for 13 people and they put us in a private area. The buffet was fabulous. My favorite seafood bisque from this restaurant, salad, greenbean cass. , sweet pot. cass. , mashed potatoes, succatash, cornbread, fried oysters, shrimp, turkey, ham, primerib, au jous, cranberry sauce...strawberry shortcake. Fabulous!!
The drive is always exhausting for us but it was a beautiful day. Saturday was very cold (50) but Sunday perfect.
The children all texted, one called, several tried but I missed their calls.
Came home to relax ...Fuji very glad to see us...Neighbor boy came over and brought me a lovely out door spinning sunflower...other neighbors wanted to come have a beer. DH said great...I said...oh I don't want company...but they came and it was a nice visit. When they left at 8:15 I promptly put on my nightly and went to the bedroom and watched Am. Idol. Fell asleeep before the announcement of who got booted off but saw it on line this morning.
We picked crabs this morning at 7 am. DH was raring to go. Me, not so much.
I guess yard work is in my future.

                Good morning all,

Yesterday actually got a little warm, mid 80’s, but still beautiful. Jennifer, Natalie and Carson came over for lunch and brought all three dogs. All the dogs loved being outside in the backyard and I loved that we didn’t have to hover over them to keep them in the yard. For lunch we had some lasagna that I made and froze. Worked out great. We also had salad and some garlic bread. I splurged and bought a DQ ice cream cake for dessert. It all was yummy. After we had lunch we played a game of Sequence that Dave and Carson won and then Dave needed to sit in his recliner. Then the kids and I played Apples to Apples. I won which is unusual. The kids left around 3:30 and it looked like it might rain and so we shut up the house. Dave took a short nap and I watched a
little TV. For supper we had a cheese omelette. Quick clean up and then Dave and I played some cribbage. All in all it was a great day. Jennifer had Carson take a picture of Jennifer and me.

That is all for me today. Groceries on the to do list today and maybe mow the lawn. Prayers for those in need and wishes
for a great day to all.

Dave watches the news pretty much all morning. He loves anything on history and is always watching American History Channel and the History Channel. He had to have certain stations when we signed up for cable. Me, I probably know more about world war 2 than most women my age because of what he watches. Doesn’t bother me since I’m usually doing handwork without my glasses. I hear it, just don’t necessarily see it. He does watch a lot of food programs that I like to watch. As far as sports he will watch Minnesota Gopher football and Baylor football. Both college. And he always watches the Minnesota Twins. I don’t mind watching the Twins. Been watching them most of my life. He just mentioned that we don’t do anything together like we did when we were first married. I thought just sitting together at night was spending time together but he is missing something. I suggested playing cards and I know he enjoyed it. Maybe going for short walks, too. I can use the walks but I’m not so sure he can do much walking. Or, maybe it will just help his knees more. I’ll just keep trying.

                Good morning,

We had a quiet day yesterday and lots of rest which really helped me feel better. It's Monday and a new week. I will take flowers to the cemetery this morning for my Mom. Then head in to the office later. There may be a couple of days to sew this week as there are no appointments scheduled for me.

Today is the monthly guild meeting but I'm not going this time. I will keep my germs for now.

I spoke with the owner of LQS and she will take my quilt for quilting. She is being selective on what quilts she does now due to health reasons. It is sad that owners are struggling to keep the doors open. We have a large sewing group and ladies with $$$ to spend. This shop has beautiful collections and a color of the week (25% off sale) so it one of my go to shops.

                Hope your Monday is wonderful!
                Just one more stitch...

Good Morning ~ It's PC with sun breaks. It's already 60* and expected to be in the mid-70's this afternoon. I think we may be in a warming trend.

I'm having a slow start to the day. DH's 2 salads are made for the next 2 days, his med. procedure is done, and I'm lolly gagging in my pj's. I still need to start the laundry, then I want to take a tub bath. Today I need to vac. the carpet real well. The carpet cleaning appt. is tomorrow a.m. at 9. I know it will stress out DH, but it needs to be done. No more delays. I'm not paying extra to have furniture moved. Just doing the main area of the LR, hall, and carpeted steps to the bsmt.

I did not get any more calls, so relaxed the rest of yesterday. Watched my usual Sun. eve. programs and read. Yest. I watched more of Josh & Erin's YT videos on wild wonderful off grid. Also some of Trent and Allie (Thanks, Treadler, for introducing them to us), and a couple quilting videos.

DH is antsy and wants me to get the laundry started and get dressed, so I better get at it.

Good afternoon. Day off. Lounged about in bed until noon. So, what else is new, right? Lol.

Waiting for the sun to move west so the house shadows the front flowerbed before I head out there to dig it up.

About to stuff my face with a sub I bought yesterday at Subway. Their quality has gone down. The bread of the sub I ate yesterday was tough and almost unchewable. This one feels the same. I asked for Honey Oat. I think she used multi-grain wheat. Anyway, I ordered online to get a BOGO.

Will try to roust myself here in a bit to vacuum the carpet in the dining room and then do some more ironing. Aunt Ruth's rainbow quilt should be easy and fast if I just set myself to the task and work on it.

Currently watching Renegade Nell on Disney+.

                    Have a divine day all.

Thanks for sharing your photos, memories, and tributes to all our mothers and grandmothers. I meant to share a story or two about my mom but got interrupted by work. I'm sure I'll share plenty over time.
