Meet: Farley Inter Regional Extravaganza

The Lead: The MIT women's track and field team produced two event victories and a pair of nationally-ranked performances at the two-day Farley Inter Regional Extravaganza held at Williams College this weekend.
EVENT HIGHLIGHTS:
- The 4x400 relay, comprised of junior
Marina Miller (Bel Air, Md.), senior
Julia Howarth (Barrington, R.I.), junior
Olivia Dias (East Taunton, Mass.), and senior
Paige Cooksey (Ormond Beach, Calif.), captured first place with a time of 3:41.26.
- Howarth won the 800m in 2:11. 91 while sophomore
Erin Hovendon (Laurel Park, Mass.) was third in 2:16.48.
- First-year
Olivia Girand (New York, N.Y.) was the runner up in the 3,000m steeplechase with a time of 10:53.76.
- In the triple jump, sophomore
Nony Otu Ugwu's (Katy, Texas) last attempt reached 11.73m (38' 6"), resulting in second place.
- Cooksey finished second the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:00.22.
- Miller placed second in the 200m as she crossed the finish line in 24.28.
- In the 5,000m, sophomore
Katherine Sanderson (West Hartford, Conn.) was third (16:51.38), followed by sophomore
Rujuta Sane (Chandler, Ariz.) in fifth place (16:54.78), and first-year
Heather Jensen (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) in eighth place (17:22.55).
- First-year
Amalia Christina Toutziaridi (Athens, Greece) placed third in the high jump as she cleared 1.60m (5' 3"). Sophomore
Katie Kempff (St. Charles, Ill.) and senior
Tolu Akinbo (Naperville, Ill.) both reached 1.55m (5' 1"), but finished sixth and eighth, respectively.
- Dias captured third place in the 400m with a time of 57.74.
- Junior
Emily Ball (Des Moines, Iowa) was third in the hammer throw (48.51m / 159' 2") and discus (44.56m / 146' 2") and fourth in the shot put (12.75m / 41' 10").
