I'm doing a rewatch and it's hard to believe that I'm now around the same age that most of the cast was when it filmes...
Same. The show premiered when I was a senior in high school. It’s so bizarre to look at Sawyer and realize I’m the same age as him
We are also doing a rewatch. The actor that played Walt and I are basically the same age, so it's crazy watching it thinking that I was Walt when it first aired, and now I am Hurley

Does anyone else feel a lurching sense of existential anxiety over the passage of time whenever they see recent pictures of any of the Lost cast looking noticeably much older than their appearance on the show?
I know it’s been 14-20 years but part of me feels like not enough has happened in my own life to justify such a cruel amount of physical ageing in both my favourite characters and my own face when I look in the mirror.
Absolutely. I was a young teen when I first saw the show and I could look at people like Boone and Kate as adults. And that it would take ages for me to get to that age. Even Shannon and Claire. And now I'm, like 12-13 years older than them, and almost "too young" for me to date. :P People in that age group I still view as "kids", even though as immature as Shannon and Claire were, I would still have that barrier between me and a adult when I was watching the show as a teen. At some point I passed that point, and then time just raced on in an immense speed.

Yeah this. I watched the show from 13-19 years old. Rewatching now and realizing how young Boone, Shannon, Claire, even Kate are supposed to be is kinda wild. What's even more insane to me is that Sun is supposed to be 24 years old when they crash on the Island.
They all still feel older to me lol

Yeah, he definitely looks younger than 60 as well.
Evangeline Lilly is an interesting case, in that although she was 25 around the time that the show started, and she was probably 24 when they first started filming, but as many people here have said, she looked noticeably older than that, and it’s also never quite clear exactly how old Kate is supposed to be. Especially if you contrast her with the women who play Claire and Shannon, who were both around a similar age range to her and looked it. On the other hand, now that she is past 40, she’s starting to look a lot younger than she was.
Same with Michael Emerson and Terry O’Quinn, they both sure as hell don’t look like they are in their 70’s (well, in Michael’s case, almost in his 70’s, but still).
That's true with Lilly. I think Kate was meant to me around 30, so she felt older than she was because we knew for her story too make sense, she was probably not that young. Both Claire and Shannon had storylines that fit early 20s so that's how we saw them. I'm not saying they could pass as a 30 year old if they played Kate, but they probably cast Evangeline Lilly because they saw she had the range too pass as a bit older. It's even crazier that it was her first acting job ever, if I'm not mistaken.
As for now, it's easier to look younger when you have money and good make up, and the pressure of beauty standards in Hollywood means she probably did make an effort. Not a diss on her in any way. She looks great, but nowadays most Hollywood actors look at least a bit younger than they are, if not a lot.
Dang, Michael Emerson sure didn't seem 50 when Ben first came around, and he was a prisoner in the Hatch. Surprisingly, that's the most surprising one to me.
Also, Daniel Dae Kim could have easily passed for 26.
Yeah Michael Emerson even now could pass as decades younger, given that he’s nearly 70, and could still pass for mid to late 40’s/early 50’s.
Also, I’ve noticed that (and this is NOT meant to be racial stereotyping) there is a trend for people of Asian descent to pass for younger than their age when they get older, and that certainly was the case with Daniel Dae Kim.

I've known for a long time that Evangeline Lilly was in her 20s for the run of the show, but she still looks perpetually 32.
Yeah, but at the same time, despite her relatively mature looks for her age and also the mental maturity of Kate (TBH, who wouldn’t look older than their years with what she had been through), there are times when the show reminds you that she’s as young as Claire and Shannon and Boone are.
Now that Evangeline Lilly is 45, she now looks younger than her age.
Claire and Shannon are, for the most part, also around the age of Kate in the show, but in comparison to her, they still are mentally immature and young for their age.

Yeah, now Hurley is the age that Frank was when it first started.
Claire is the one that surprises me the most, in that she was only 22 when filming started.
