Chip and Joanna Gaines Set Fall Premiere for 3 New Reality Series, Including Hamster Competition Show

Chip and Joanna Gaines are ready to keep the whole family entertained with a new slate of reality shows.

Nearly two months after revealing they'll star in the upcoming limited series Fixer Upper: The Lakehouse (premiering June 2), the Magnolia Network founders shared on Wednesday that three previously announced reality competition shows will premiere this fall on Max.

According to a press release, the new shows feature "ambitious large-scale competitions" and "out-of-the-box social experiments," marking a departure from the HGTV alums' current lifestyle-focused lineup.

The new set of shows includes Roller Jam, a six-episode competition series featuring the top roller-dancing crews from Atlanta, Houston, Las Vegas, Nashville, New York, and St. Louis. The crews compete for a chance to win a $150,000 cash prize and a $10,000 donation to their local rink.

The show is hosted by Jordin Sparks and features two-time U.S. Olympian and national figure skating champion Johnny Weir and roller-skating legend Terrell Ferguson as judges.

"Each episode, skate teams must create all-new routines to perform for Johnny, Terrell, and a celebrity guest judge in front of a live audience, with only one chosen in the end as the ultimate roller dancing team in the country," the press release explains. Joanna, an avid skater herself, will appear as a guest judge on one of the episodes.

In Second Chance Stage, an eight-episode talent competition series, contestants who missed out on an earlier chance at stardom get a "second chance at their big break" by performing everything from "dancing to singing to stand-up comedy and more" in front of an audience full of agents, talent scouts and producers.

The show features Martina McBride, Taye Diggs, and Heidi Gardner as judges and a $100,000 cash prize. The Gaineses' friend and former NFL star Emmanuel Acho serves as the host.

The last — and most surprising — of the three shows is Human vs. Hamster, described as "a cheeky eight-episode competition series where the world’s most remarkable pet hamsters go toe-to-toe with teams of humans in scaled challenges." The show will be produced by the team behind American Ninja Warrior and Floor is Lava.

According to the press release, each challenge tests the contestant's speed, strength, agility, and "eating prowess."

The team that wins the most challenges against the hamsters moves on to an obstacle course where they must escape before the hamsters to win.

The show features SNL's Sarah Sherman and Kyle Brandt as hosts, with Brian Balthazar as "the resident hamster enthusiast."
