House Of The Dragon Season 2 Trailer Breakdown, The New Season Will Be A Bloody Affair

House of the Dragon season 2: More dragons, drama, and duels is what the trailer suggests the upcoming season will bring.

House of the Dragon season 2 trailer: War is coming... it seems. And the two sides of the Targaryen House are vying for the Iron Throne. Fans have been waiting for a long time, eyeing the release of 'House of the Dragon' season 2. The prequel series of ‘Game of Thrones’ is set to premiere on June 17 in India. Before the much-awaited release of the new season, makers dropped a trailer filled with twists to make the fans go gaga.

More dragons, drama, and duels is what the trailer suggests the upcoming season will bring. Although we have seen quite a lot (but it is never enough) in the last season, which gave us one of the most nail-biting climaxes. The season finale saw Rhaenyra (played by Emma D’Arcy) finding out about her son’s death, and a cloud of grief shadowed the Dragonstone Castle. Now, the next chapter picks up where it left off as Rhaenyra fuels her vengeance with fury.

House of the Dragon season 2 trailer explained

The series, based on George R.R. Martin’s novel 'Fire & Blood', will spin a tale of bloodshed and battle, which ultimately leads to the new ruler ascending the Iron Throne.

The civil war in Westeros, or, as you may call it, the Dance of the Dragons, will begin between. Rhaenyra and her half-brother Aegon (Tom Glynn-Carney). The trailer opens to an empty Iron Throne, emphasising the reason behind the war. A voice echoes in the background as Rhaenyra asserts that the ruler will be the protector of the realm. In the meantime, you can see a blink-and-miss montage featuring the Wall in the North, dragons flying, the crown, and dragon eggs (a hint on more dragons? maybe). Fans will be reminded of the prophecy, which is only known to Rhaenyra Targaryen.

Meanwhile, the viewers won’t take much time to realise that the next season will be a bloody affair. There are more dragon fights, with a mysterious golden creature entering the scene. In one of the sequences, Otto Hightower (Rhys Ifans) says the great houses will come to their side, and we soon see the Lannister emblem and Velaryon flags. Interestingly, we are also introduced to Cregan Stark (Tom Taylor), the ancestor of the Game of Thrones favourite Stark family. On the other hand, Alyn of Hull (Abubakar Salim) will be seen as a crew member of the Velaryon fleet.

House of the Dragon season 2 plot

Rhaenyra, a heartbroken mother, has not gotten over the loss of her son and is gearing up to lock horns with her enemies. On the other hand, Alicent's (Olivia Cooke) children are ready to rule. Alicent can be heard in the trailer advising on ways of war, but Aemond (Ewan Mitchell) says she cares too much for their enemy. It surely seems like a hint of Aemond’s dreadful actions we might witness in season 2.

But he will face an adversary far more ruthless than he can imagine, Daemon Targaryen. On the team, Black, the husband of the queen, would prove to be a big threat with his fire-spitting dragon. We also sense disapproval from Rhaenyra as she asks Daemon if he can accept her as his queen and ruler.

In the end of the trailer, Rhaenyra says that neither can win the war. A heads-up for the violent and never-ending battle for power.
