What Kyle Walker said about Crystal Palace straight after 2-0 Manchester City win - We are Palace

Manchester City defender has been talking about Crystal Palace in the wake of his side’s 2-0 win over Tottenham, here’s what he said.

As we approach the final weekend of the league season, there is still so much to play for right across the league.

Crystal Palace could record a joint-record Premier League finish if results go our way which would be 10th, above Brighton.

While the title race will go right down to the wire as well.

But one race which is now over is the race for Champions League football, which Aston Villa have won after Spurs lost 2-0 to Man City on Tuesday.

It was after this game, City defender Kyle Walker was discussing Palace.

What was Kyle Walker saying about Crystal Palace?

Speaking to media after his side won the game against Spurs, Walker denied that the home side may have been happy for City to win as it lessens the chance of Spurs’ arch-rivals Arsenal winning the league.

Spurs had to beat City for Champions League football, and doing so would’ve brought the race to the final day, where Palace would’ve had a say, playing against Villa at Selhurst Park.

Walker explained: “Aston Villa going to Palace, that’s a difficult game.”

This implies that he thought Spurs would’ve had lots to play for had they beaten City, and so it was in their interests to do so as Palace are in the form to beat Villa right now.

Oliver Glasner will likely face a weakened Villa side

Given Villa has now qualified for the Champions League, they’ll likely take the chance this Sunday to play some youngsters as usually happens.

Not to mention the celebrations we all saw on their social media which could suggest they won’t be training for a day or two following.

But for Palace and Oliver Glasner, there’s as much to play for as ever and the difference between 12th and 10th is quite a lot of money.

The progress that Villa have made under Unai Emery just shows what is possible, now there will be dreams that Palace can do the same under Glasner.
