Liverpool fan rejected Anfield move last summer, Michael Edwards should try to sign him again

Michael Edwards should look to bring a boyhood Liverpool fan to the club, who rejected a move to Anfield last summer.

One of the main priorities for Liverpool in the summer transfer window will be to reinforce the attack.

At this moment in time, Liverpool’s attackers have fallen short of expectations. With the exception of Mohamed Salah, none of them have had a particularly enjoyable season at the club.

With a new manager coming in, it’s time for a change and that means reinforcing the club’s attacking line. Which could see Michael Edwards return to a target who Liverpool wanted to sign last summer.

Jesper Lindstrom should be on Liverpool’s radar again

Last year, Jesper Lindstrom moved from Eintracht Frankfurt to Napoli even though he was on Liverpool’s radar as well.

That move has not worked out for the young attacker. Lindstrom has started just two games for Napoli in Serie A this season.

He’s not been able to fight himself into the reckoning, but he’s also not been given a lot of opportunities.

This is a real shame considering the talent he exhibited while at Frankfurt last season. Lindstrom is 24-years-old and needs his career to be rescued.

Right now, considering how his season has gone, Liverpool stand a good chance of getting him for a decent fee, and the club should take a risk.

Lindstrom could be the perfect player for Arne Slot’s system in Liverpool’s attack. He can play anywhere across the front three and also as a number 10 behind the striker. With Slot’s preference for the 4-2-3-1 formation, that could be a match made in heaven.

Jesper Lindstrom explains why he rejected Liverpool last summer

Lindstrom probably regrets rejecting Liverpool’s advances last summer. Especially since he admitted that he has always been a fan of the club.

“It was Liverpool and I am a Liverpool supporter, so it would’ve been a madly fascinating experience, but would it have been an intelligent move?” he told Danish newspaper Tipsbladet.

“If I don’t play, then I may as well sit in front of the TV and watch them play there while I am at a different club. I am at an age now where I have to play football.

“This is why I think Napoli represents a good change. It is one of the best clubs in the world and they said I will have many opportunities to play.”

There’s always a room for second chances, and it might just be a smart move for Edwards to prize him away from Napoli this summer.
