For some people who choose their daily outfit within a few seconds or already decide it one day in advance can find it very surprising, but deciding an outfit is also part of various decisions which we make in daily life. According to the psychological experts we make around 10,000 and 40,000 decisions each day. The more energy you spend on less important tasks, it can impact crucial decision making.

Why Do Steve Jobs, Mark Zuckerberg Wear Same Outfit Everyday?

Experts suggest that if you keep daily choices as simple as possible it can help you to manage your mental energy more efficiently. Many geniuses, like Barack Obama, Einstein, Steve Jobs, Mark Zukerbourg use this strategy to minimize this fatigue and free their minds for more significant achievements.

Mark Zuckerberg who wears similar outfits, mostly grey T’s with blue trousers, once said that dressing the same way every day allows him to save his mental energy for making more significant decisions at work.

In Steve Jobs authorized biography by Walter Isaacson, it mentioned, “I don’t want to make decisions about what I’m wearing. I have multiple same jeans and black turtlenecks.”

Albert Einstein, also used to wear a gray suit, white shirt, and slip-on shoes, which later on became his signature look. Even Barack Obama was seen wearing a uniform style. It assumed that it might have helped them to reduce their time in fashion related decisions.

What Is Decision Fatigue?

The reason why successful people choose the same outfit everyday is to avoid the psychological burden of daily choices. It is estimated that the human brain makes tons of decisions in a day. The burden of making more choices is called decision fatigue, also means mental exhaustion caused by constant decision-making. More decisions we make it takes more mental energy. Its same like any muscle we overuse while excercise.

If we spend more time on less important decisions or choices which may not have much impact in our life in the long run, it will lead to drain our mental energy. So when we need this energy to make important decisions, our brain will be under decision-fatigue.
