Ducks Ltd. share new single "When You're Outside," add more summer tour dates
Ducks Ltd. begin their spring/summer 2024 tour this weekend, and to celebrate they’ve shared a new single. “When You’re Outside” features backing vocals from Ratboys‘ Julia Steiner and Moontype‘s Margaret McCarthy and was recorded during the same sessions as this year’s fantastic Harm’s Way.
“This was one we wrote pretty early in the process for Harm’s Way, which was a period when a lot of country-leaning ideas were working their way into our arrangements. I’d demoed the harmonies in the chorus (badly), and when we were working on backing vocals with Julia and Margaret they immediately understood what we were trying to do and really elevated it,” Tom McGreevy says. “The song didn’t end up quite fitting in the sequence for the album, but it does a couple things we’ve never done before in a Ducks song so I’m glad we’re finding a way to put it out. It’s about trying to support someone who is making that difficult to do. Unconditional love in a sense. Or at least love with limited conditions.”
“When You’re Outside” may not have made the cut but it’s just as catchy and hooky as anything on the album. Watch the video below.
The band first head to Europe and the UK but will be in North America soon with fellow Canadians Kiwi Jr. The tour kicks off June 21 at Tubby’s in Kingston, NY and then heads to NYC for a show at Knitting Factory at Baker Falls on June 22 which also has Culture Tax on the bill.
