Selena Gomez arrives in Cannes to promote her new film “Emilia Perez”

Selena Gomez crossed the red carpet Cannes Festival , which takes place in France, this Saturday (18). The singer is in the cast of “Emilia Perez”, a new musical comedy that will premiere during the event.

For the red carpet, the owner of “Rare” chose a long and delicate dress in black and white. With her hair tied up, the artist also chose silver earrings and a necklace with matching stones.

She also greeted and posed alongside the film's cast, which includes actors Adriana Paz, Édgar Ramírez, Zoë Saldaña and Karla Sofía Gascón, the director, Jacques Audiard and musician Clément Ducol. See photos in the gallery above.

The film, which should hit theaters after the film screening, tells the story of a lawyer who helps a Mexican cartel leader go through a gender transition and escape from the police.

“Emilia Perez” is directed by Jacques Audiard, who already has a Palme d'Or, an award that takes place during the Cannes Festival. In 2015, he gained recognition with the feature film “Dheepan: The Refuge”.

Last month, Selena celebrated the film's nomination for the festival with a post on Instagram. ““I’ve been waiting to show you this!! I'm very thankful. Emilia Pérez, directed by Jacques Audiard, will premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in May,” she wrote at the time.

The 2024 edition of the Cannes Film Festival began on the 14th and runs until May 25th in the city of Cannes, on the French coast. See the full list of nominees here.
