Throughout American singer Bruce Springsteen‘s career, E Street Band has been his primary backing band. Interestingly, they got their official name almost two years after their formation.

According to Variety, the upcoming documentary Road Diary: Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band will take a closer look at the band’s 2023-2024 tour. The tour reportedly began on February 1, 2023, and will conclude on November 22, 2024. According to the official website of The Walt Disney Company, this project will showcase behind-the-scenes footage and live performances from their ongoing endeavor. Additionally, viewers will also learn about their preparation and rehearsal process.

The director of Road Diary: Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band is the singer’s long-time friend, Thom Zimny. One of his best works includes 2005’s Wings for Wheels: The Making of Born to Run, for which he won the Grammy for Best Music Film in 2007. His other directorial credits include The Journey of Johnny Cash, Springsteen on Broadway, Willie Nelson & Family, and more.

Road Diary: Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band will be released on Hulu and Disney+ in October 2023. Its exact release date is expected to be revealed soon.

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame welcomed The E Street Band in 2014. Their current members are the following:

  • Bruce Springsteen – lead vocals, guitar, harmonica, piano, synthesizer, glockenspiel

  • Garry Tallent – bass, backing vocals

  • Roy Bittan – piano, keyboards, accordion, backing vocals

  • Max Weinberg – drums

  • Steven Van Zandt – guitar, slide guitar, accordion, backing vocals

  • Nils Lofgren – vocals, acoustic guitar

  • Patti Scialfa – guitar, mandolin, backing vocals

  • Soozie Tyrell – violin, backing vocals, percussion, acoustic guitar

  • Jake Clemons – tenor and baritone saxophone, percussion, backing vocals

  • Charles Giordano – organ, accordion, synthesizer

In a 2023 interview with MOJO, Springsteen spoke highly of The E Street Band member Nils Lofgren. He stated he was a talented guitarist and one of the best he had ever seen. Furthermore, he revealed that the guitarist also had a good voice and did not possess any ego. Some of E Street Band’s past members were Clarence Clemons, Danny Federici, Vini Lopez, David Sanciou, and more.
