A Mexican restaurant in Pittsburgh’s Beechview neighborhood has been shut down for numerous health code violations.A report from the Allegheny County Health Department cited El Paisano at 1542 Beechview Avenue with 16 violations.The most serious of these included the observation of a live cockroach as well as “too numerous to count dead roaches of all life cycles” under a microwave and a cooler. The health department recommended biweekly treatments to rid the restaurant of the pests.Another high-risk violation was food stored at too-high temperatures. A bin of thawed fish was measured at 59 degrees, while another was at 64 degrees. The restaurant had also let its health permit expire back in November. El Paisano was closed Thursday pending its return to code.
