UP voter turnout would be betterthan ’19 polls: CEO
Lucknow: Even though the initial four phases have failed to match the voter turnout recorded in 2019 Lok Sabha polls, chief electoral officer (CEO) of Uttar Pradesh is confident that this time the overall percentage would be much better.
"Efforts of central and state govts will help UP to witness better voter turnout in comparison to 2019," said CEO Navdeep Rinwa after the launch of three books — Unfolding Indian Elections, Vishwas in Voting and Belief in the Ballot — on Wednesday.
Addressing reporters, Rinwa said that with the efforts of the Election Commission of India, information and broadcasting ministry and various Central and state govt departments, the voter turnout would increase in the next three phases.
"The ECI is providing all voting-related information to the electorate through various apps and delivering voter lists at the doorstep justd to ensure that nobody would face any difficulty on the polling day and also to meet the goal of 100% turnout. The ECI is making every possible effort to reach those who lack information and facilities," he added.
