Coufal award

Bowen, Kudus, Coufal, Areola, Earthy and Mayers win 2023/24 West Ham United Player Awards

Jarrod Bowen, Mohammed Kudus and Vladimír Coufal all took trophies home from London Stadium on Saturday after winning 2023/24 West Ham United Player Awards.

The trio were among six players presented with glassware following the Premier League fixture with Luton Town after being recognised for their brilliance during the current campaign.

Bowen won two awards, being crowned Hammer of the Year for the first time, in large part because he has also (almost) finished the season as the Club’s Top Goalscorer, sponsored by Lyca Mobile!

The England international goes into the final weekend of the season having been directly involved in no fewer than 30 goals in all competitions, scoring 20 and assisting ten more.

Bowen was overwhelmingly voted Hammer of the Year by West Ham supporters, with Ghana attacker Kudus capping an impressive debut campaign in east London by finishing in second place.

But Kudus did not go home empty-handed, as the 13-goal winger scooped the Goal of the Season award for his incredible individual 70-yard run and finish in the 5-0 UEFA Europa League round of 16 second leg win over SC Freiburg at London Stadium in March.

At the other end of the pitch, goalkeeper Alphonse Areola was presented with the Save of the Season trophy for his fingertip stop to keep out a fiercely-struck volley from Arsenal winger Leandro Trossard in the Premier League visit of the Gunners to E20 in February.

In addition to his consistent performances on the pitch, Coufal was celebrated for his commitment to community work with the Players’ Project Award, presented by long-serving Foundation coach and Academy Link Mentor Rashid Abba.

The Czech Republic full-back has been out and about with the West Ham United Foundation, visiting the Bobby Moore Academy, supporting Premier League Primary Stars and charity partner Ambition Aspire Achieve and taking part in a Bake Off Challenge with 2023 Great British Bake Off champion and Hammers fan Matty Edgell for Green Football Weekend.

Two promising homegrown players were also recognised, with midfielder George Earthy capping a season in which he made his first-team debut by being named Mark Noble Young Hammer of the Year - presented by coach Mark Robson - and defender Ezra Mayers winning the Dylan Tombides Award - presented by Dylan's mother Tracy - and Doris Bell Award for the outstanding Academy of Football scholar.

Congratulations to all six players on winning 2023/24 Player Awards, and thank you to every supporter who cast a vote!
