Pittsburgh Steelers Sign Buccaneers Ex Scotty Miller

After reportedly holding several unsuccessful trade talks, the Pittsburgh Steelers have finally added a receiver to their roster.

It was a poorly kept secret that the Pittsburgh Steelers were in the market for help at receiver after trading away Diontae Johnson earlier this offseason. After reportedly holding several unfruitful trade talks, the Steelers turned to free agency for their receiver need, signing veteran Scotty Miller.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Steelers signed the 26-year-old to a one-year deal that could see him feature as one of Pittsburgh's top targets alongside George Pickens and rookie Roman Wilson.

This deal will also mean Miller will reunite with the Steelers' new offensive coordinator, Arthur Smith, whom he played for last season with the Atlanta Falcons.

Miller, a former sixth-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, spent the first four years of his career with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He eventually made a name for himself during his second year in the league as a reliable fourth option for then-Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady.

In Miller's first season with the quarterback (2020), who many now regard as the greatest of all time, he recorded a career year, totaling 501 yards and three touchdowns on 33 receptions.

However, despite a promising second season in the league, Miller has yet to be able to refind that level of production. Since his career year, Miller has totaled 223 yards on 28 receptions while playing in 24 games over the past three seasons.

Miller will now hope he can refind his success with a familiar face at offensive coordinator, Smith, and while playing in a Steelers offense that will start either Russell Wilson or Justin Fields at quarterback.
