Arsenal fans in disbelief after hearing what David Moyes said ahead of West Ham's match against Man City

David Moyes' comments ahead of his final game in charge of West Ham have caused a stir.

Arsenal fans have been left stunned after hearing what David Moyes had to say ahead of West Ham's game against Manchester City on Sunday.

Moyes takes charge of West Ham for the final time as he leaves the club for the second time.

He signed off from the London Stadium with a 3-1 win over Luton Town on Saturday and now West Ham take on City at the Etihad in the curtain-closer.

City's 2-0 win at Spurs on Tuesday night means a final-day success over the Hammers will clinch a fourth consecutive league title for Pep Guardiola's side at Arsenal's expense, despite their win at Manchester United taking it to the final day.

West Ham, who are ninth in the table, could have a key part to play but, in a similar reaction to Fulham flying kites in training, Arsenal fans haven't got much hope for the Hammers after Moyes' recent comments.

"It would be difficult stopping their Under 14's winning the title, I think!" he said.

"I've said to the players we'll do everything to be professional - that's the word I would use.

"We'll try and do the best we can."

West Ham faced City on the final day of the 2013/14 season when they were going head-to-head with Liverpool.

They were unable to spoil the party as City coasted to a 2-0 win courtesy of goals from Samir Nasri and Vincent Kompany.

And while he was clearly joking, Arsenal fans erupted with reaction on social media.

One said: "That's a man on the beach."

Another commented: "He's already given up."

A third added: "Moyes is on holiday already then."

A fourth fumed: "Imagine conceding defeat in a press conference what a loser lol."

Another posted: "Everyone rolls over and has their belly tickled for City."

A final person said: "West Ham are 'European champions' yet their manager admits defeat before kick-off."

City ensured they go into the last game of the 2023/24 season with their destiny in their own hands thanks to Erling Haaland's clinical brace at Spurs.

Amid a bizarre backdrop to the game where the home fans were seen cheering on City due to their fierce rivalry with fellow title contenders Arsenal, Haaland scored two second-half goals to keep Guardiola's side two points clear at the top of the table heading into the final weekend of the campaign.
