Man dies while watching TV in a bar in Lagos

A yet-to-be-identified man died while enjoying himself in a bar located along the Lagos-Abeokuta expressway on May 15.

The owner of the bar had informed the Elere police division that the deceased, who is believed to be in his 50s, had visited his bar on the said day and sat to watch television, It was later discovered that he was sleeping on the chair. The bar owner said all attempts to wake him after a while failed. It was then discovered that he was lifeless.

The scene was immediately visited by the police and upon examination found no marks of violence on it. The body was then moved to the Mainland General Hospital Mortuary in Yaba, Lagos.

Efforts are currently being made to locate his family. ,

As a doctor it is evident from the deceased posture that he initially slept and died in his sleep. Most likely a heart failure. If he was awake he would have noticed it coming even for a few seconds and that expression would be on his face. The face and how calm it looks is also one of the signs of if death occurs in sleep. Ofcourse alcohol is a sedative which actually may have helped this soul transcend and I doubt is the cause of his demise. That would have been classified as poisoning due to excess alcohol and even if asleep or passes out would show adverse body reactions such as foaming in the mouth. So it's not the alcohol. If any the alcohol made him sleep and a heart failure completely separate to that occurred in his sleep. RIP.

So many factors are responsible.Firstly, penury is one.Secondly, men hardly take care of themselves nowadays. The things that are always in their minds are how to have sex, alcohol etc. Most men nowadays hardly eat good food, take recommended supplements for their wellbeing. Finally, how many men check their BPs nowadays?.Please, before i stop,if you are a man above 40 years, always go hospital for prostate check.

An elderly gentleman slumped in one of our retail outlets. I was called upon and I administered CPR. We rushed him to the nearest hospital. It was a brought in dead (BID) case. His family admitted he was just discharged from an hospital where he was admitted sick.
