There are still mysteries that remain in Super Mario 64, which is also why the game is fun to play to this date. Players are running around in the first 3D Mario game, collecting the stars from Whomp’s Fortress, Hazy Maze Caves, Lethal Lava Land, and more. But one of the levels has this one cabin that strikes them differently.
Just because it has this unopenable door, players have been trying to force their way into the cabin. However, nothing has proved successful until now. Somebody gave the seemingly impossible task a go, and four hours later, or, should we say, 28 years later, his efforts paid off.
That’s Another Mission Success For Super Mario 64 Fans
Almost after three decades, a YouTuber named Alexpalix1 managed to exploit the technical glitch to enter the door no one could. The speedrunner was inspired by an explanation put forth by another user, dubbed Scott Buchanan, aka Pannenkoek2012, who also explained how Alexpalix1 was able to get past the invisible obstacles.
Players will find this door in a level named Cool, Cool Mountain, where they’ll enter the cabin using a chimney as an entrance. Once they are in, they’ll reach a door leading Mario near the mother penguin. Nevertheless, once the door is locked, it cannot be opened. At least, that’s what the players might be thinking until the speedrunner cracked it.
The mother penguin unintentionally helped the user accomplish the mission that almost took four hours. Alexpalix1 exploited the hit box with her help and pushed Mario straight into the zone, leading him to the other side.
Interestingly, Alexpalix1 was inspired by another one of the videos uploaded by Pannenkoek2012 that explained how invisible walls in Super Mario 64 work.
But That’s Only one; There Are More Mysteries to be Solved
While the door’s mystery in the game has been solved, several others are still out in the open and require some brains. Interestingly, one mystery revolves around only the mother penguin. She has lost her baby here. As players are searching for the little one, they’ll come to know that a couple of babies are roaming the area.
If Mario comes back with the wrong one, the mother penguin denies accepting him. This raises the question of who this little one belongs to; maybe it’s the other penguin Mario encounters in the Snowman’s Land.
Mario fans appears to be among the most enthusiastic ones. When Nintendo announced it would be taking it down for good, the fans decided to clear all the remaining levels in the game. The mission was a success.
Super Mario 64 could’ve been a multiplayer game, allowing players to solve these mysteries together. There are so many of them, some of which may require a hand or two to solve.
