The Vaqueros de Bayamon fell in overtime 101-98 on Thursday against the Cangrejeros de Santurce in the debut of this season of the Baloncesto Superior Nacional (BSN) of reinforcement Kristian Doolittle at the Roberto Clemente Coliseum.
After Doolittle’s arrival, QJ Peterson was the import who did not see action in the match, which meant the cowboy team’s seventh loss in its last eight matches.
The Cowboys are 5-10. On the other hand, the Cangrejeros play 5-6.
For the crustacean squad, which overcame a mycoplasma outbreak, Jared Sullinger shone with a double double of 33 points and 16 rebounds. Additionally, he contributed three assists. He was followed by William Barton with 23 points, five sacks and six assists.
Sullinger, a strong 32-year-old forward who played five seasons in the NBA between the Boston Celtics and Toronto Raptors, also made his debut in this clash.
Walter Hodge, for his part, added 20 points.
In the loss, Doolittle, who has worn the Cowboys number for the last three seasons, contributed 22 points, eight rebounds and five assists. Ysmael Romero scored 18 and Stephen Thompson Jr. 17 points.
Even with the setback, Bayamon finished with five figures in double digits.
In another duel on Thursday, the Arecibo Captains defeated the Mayaguez Indians 107-98 at the Manuel “Petaca” Iguina Coliseum.
David Stockton dominated the offense with 33 points and 11 assists. Alfonso Plummer continued with 24 units.
The Capitanes were coming off two consecutive losses, however, they are leaders in section A with a record of 11-3.
For the Indians, Nick Perkins was better after recording a double double of 19 points and 10 sacks. Those from Sultana del Oeste play 9-6 in second place in the section.
In the third match, at the Mario Quijote Morales Coliseum, the Guaynabo Mets suffered their third consecutive defeat when the Manati Bears overcame 80-70.
In the victory, Ethan Thompson added 26 points and six rebounds and Norris Cole 13 points and seven assists.
The Bears improved their record to 8-1 with their fourth consecutive victory.
For the Mets, Jaysean Paige stood out with 17 points. Rondae Hollis-Jefferson added 16 points and nine rebounds. The metropolitan team plays 8-5.
