Origin

The meme Mugi originated from a Shiba Inu dog that was photographed and posted via Instagram by his owner in 2017. Soon after on October 11th, 2017 a Tumblr user named LittlePawz posted the photo as a meme with the caption, “when your dog takes a better selfie then you do…”

Gaining popularity on Tumblr, Mugi was then found on Pinterest posted by a user on June 1st, 2019 with 58,000 followers.

Since Mugi was first posted in 2017 this Shiba Inu quickly spread to other areas of the internet. Mugi has been used as profile pictures and telegram stickers, posted on Shiba Inu blog forms and social media posts, and has even been uploaded to many popular meme generator websites like Imgflip ,Memedroid , and Imgur .
