Diablo 4's season four Loot Reborn is all about reworking the entire gearing system in the game. There are several ways to get gear but with all the added mechanics, such as Tempering, Masterworking, and Codex system, even veteran players will need to learn the new loot system.

Diablo 4: 9 Best Uniques For Rogue

Rogue Unique items may not be the flashiest in Diablo 4, but the ones detailed here are still great options.

Players constantly stressed that there were tons of useless stats that could roll on a piece of gear, which they have all fixed now. Gear has never been stronger now compared to any previous seasons in Diablo 4 and here's what you should do to get the best gear possible.

Loot Reborn's Gear Changes

Hovering over a legendary gauntlet with a greater affix

Seaon Four's Loot Reborn has reduced the number of affixes that can roll on an item, giving players a higher chance of getting what they need.

It has also reduced the number of affixes that can roll on rare and legendary items. Rare items will only have two affixes while legendary items will have three instead of both having four affixes each. This is where the new crafting system comes in.

Tempering lets you add two more affixes (only for Ancestral items) in a more deterministic way. In total, you can have five different affixes to a single piece of gear, making every single build stronger with the sheer amount of additional stats they could receive.

After you start tempering your gear, you can improve the rolls on the affixes a total of 12 times through Masterworking, giving another incredible boost to player power.

Loot Reborn also adds greater affixes into the mix. Greater affixes are double-rolled affixes on legendary items. For example, if an item rolls +70 Intelligence, a greater affix roll would put it at +130 or more Intelligence.

You cannot enchant a greater affix into another greater affix. If you ever enchant a greater affix roll, it will become a normal affix.

There's a very low chance of getting a legendary item with greater affixes, but they have an icon on them if they drop. A legendary item may have a total of three greater affixes when it drops, showing three greater affixes icons on the item. You can compare this feature to Diablo 3's ancient items.

Best Way To Get Good Gear

Farming Helltide legendaries in Diablo 4

Because of all the changes in Loot Reborn, it'll definitely influence how you look at gear compared to previous seasons. In this case, you can completely forego picking up rare items once you reach tier four difficulty because two affixes aren't enough.

It is a big sigh of relief to players because they don't have to read that much text from now on. Your ultimate goal is to get legendary gear, preferably ones with greater affixes. There are three kinds of endgame content you can farm for good gear – nightmare dungeons, Helltides, and the Pit.

Each type of endgame content has its pros and cons, but if you want to have an absurd amount of legendaries and uniques to drop, you can run Helltides and go to the Baneful Altars where you place the Baneful Hearts to summon the Maidens.

The whole event gives you hundreds of Aberrant Cinders and the Maiden guarantees legendary drops once eliminated. You can use the Aberrant Cinders to open chests around the current Helltide-affected region and get a bunch of guaranteed legendaries again along with Baneful Hearts to restart the Baneful Altars.

Nightmare dungeons also have guaranteed legendary drops at the end, along with a few lucky drops from eliminating elites and finishing events throughout the dungeon. However, you can also upgrade your glyphs through this method, so it is always great to run.

Fighting the Bramble Boss in the Pit

As for the Pit, you are running this to get the materials needed to improve your gear's affixes through Masterworking. This is Diablo 4's version of its classic Greater Rifts in Diablo 3. You'll enter the Pit and eliminate all the enemies in almost a linear path.

Loot doesn't drop up until the end of the Pit, so you don't have to worry about running around looting items. The last boss drops guaranteed legendary items, similar to nightmare dungeons, but you have an additional chest that drops Murmuring Obols and Obducites.

If you run higher tiers, you get the upgraded Masterworking materials. The material tiers are Obducites, Ingolith, and Neathiron, with Neathiron being the highest tier.

If you are still looking for gear upgrades, you could avoid going to the Pit first because this content is very difficult, and you'll be getting fewer legendaries compared to the other methods.
