SARATOGA SPRINGS - Saratoga Strong has lost two of its four candidates.

Democrat Tara Gaston for supervisor and unaffiliated party member Colin Klepetar for commissioner of accounts are not going to run on the line that Commissioner of Public Safety Robin Dalton established for her run for mayor.

Gaston said that her name landing on the Saratoga Strong ballot petition was a misunderstanding, while Klepetar said he wants to step back and make way for another candidate who he said is running on yet another independent line. He claims that candidate, who has yet to step forward, would be more suitable for the job.

This leaves only one more candidate standing with Dalton -- commissioner of finance hopeful Adam Israel.

On Tuesday, Dalton said Gaston and Klepetar's departure was old news and that she only collected signatures for herself and Israel.

"We are committed more than ever to having a truly independent choice for voters in the upcoming election," Dalton said.
