Thursday is cloudy but we catch a break; Showers return Friday into this weekend

Thursday begins with cloudy skies, wet roads, and some patchy dense fog. Clouds will be stubborn, lingering throughout the day, with a chance for an isolated sprinkle across the MTNS. Temps will make it into the upper 40s, low 50s by lunchtime as the fog burns off. We’ll make it into the middle 50s this afternoon as most catch a break from the rain.

Thursday night extends our shower break into Friday morning as we’ll enjoy a lull in the activity. Mostly cloudy to partly cloudy will dot the skies tonight as temperatures drop back down into the 40s. Don’t put away the rain gear just yet because Friday into this weekend will be an unsettled one.

Friday won’t be too bad of a start as we do start dry with some sunshine. We’ll make it back into the 50s but our dry weather won’t last all day because clouds will build back in by lunchtime, followed by a chance for showers in the afternoon, especially along western West Virginia and Virginia. More widespread showers will move in Friday night, lasting into Saturday.

Saturday is a wet start to the weekend with scattered showers moving in and even the chance for a thunderstorm or two. It will also be a windy day with southeast winds picking up, wind gusts of at least 30 mph across the lowlands and even 40 mph across the mountains looking like a good bet at times. Steady showers move in during the morning with decreasing chances as we move into Saturday night.

Sunday sees the chance for a lingering shower, most of which will be confined across the mountains. It will be a cooler start in the 30s so find something to keep yourself warm if you’re heading off to church in the morning. With cooler temperatures lingering during the day, even a snowflake or two looks possible across the mountains, before drier weather persists overnight.

Look Into The Future Using Our StormTracker 59 Predictor

Monday morning is a frigid one with temperatures near 30 degrees under a few clouds. As a southern high pressure system builds in, cloud cover will erode away, and we’ll start to bring in more sunshine by lunchtime and eventually mostly sunny skies for the afternoon. Still a brisk afternoon, however, with temperatures near 50.

Tuesday keeps the sunny skies around, but first we need to make it past a cold morning near 30 degrees again. After that, we’ll enjoy a decent warm up into the 40s and 50s to cap off our Tuesday. The afternoon will also stay dry so enjoy!

Wednesday brings in more chances for sunshine as our warm up continues, now climbing into the 60s after being in the 30s in the morning.
