Colorado teen arrested for 'terrorizing movie theater with a Joker mask'

Terrified moviegoers fled a Colorado movie theater late Sunday after a teen with a poor sense of humor tried to scare his friends by wearing a Joker mask to the movies.

The 17-year-old suspect, who's name has not been released because he's a minor, was arrested and charged with five counts of misdemeanor menacing for for allegedly wearing the clown hat and Joker mask to a late-night movie at Century Boulder Theater in Boulder.

Authorities said the teen was found with the clown outfit in his bag and admitted to trying to scare his friend.

A part-time student at the University of Colorado, the teen was taken to juvenile detention.

The teen added that he planned to dress as the Joker for Halloween next year.

The suspect also told police he was aware of the July 20 shooting in Aurora - less 40 miles from Boulder - in which alleged shooter James Holmes killed 12 people and wounded 58 at a midnight showing of the Dark Knight Rises.

Holmes faces 166 counts of murder and attempted murder among other charges.

He reportedly told police he was Batman's nemesis, The Joker, when arrested.

The shooting has clearly stayed with theater-goers.

'The group who reported the incident was so frightened that they ran from the theater, according the theater's manger,' police told New York Daily News.
