Great football weather forecast for Packers-Steelers game; what to know about Sunday's game

GREEN BAY – Green Bay Packers fans should feel at home in Pittsburgh. The cities have similar blue-collar roots and a like devotion to their football teams. And of the two NFL cities in Pennsylvania, it's definitely the better site for visiting fans.

The Packers and Steelers played 36 times in 90 years, with Green Bay winning 20 games, including Super Bowl XLV in 2011. The last time they met, in 2021, the Packers won 27-17 at Lambeau Field. The last time the Packers won in Pittsburgh was 1970. Pittsburgh is 5-3 and the Packers are 3-5. Both teams are coming off victories on Sunday.

For those heading to the noon game, the National Weather Service says Sunday in Pittsburgh will be mostly sunny with a high near 50.

Tickets still available for game

This is one of the more expensive games on the Packers' schedule. As of Monday, the average get-in price was $183. Secondary marketplace Vivid Seats said the average ticket price was $297, making it the Packers' second most expensive remaining game, behind the Lions game on Thanksgiving Day in Detroit.

Acrisure Stadium has aged well

USA Today said Acrisure Stadium ranked ninth among the NFL's 30 venues.

Reporter Andrew Joseph said Acrisure Stadium, formerly known as Heinz Field, aged incredibly well in its 22 years.

"It’s a short walk to bars and restaurants, and the surrounding area is a sea of black and yellow on game days —making for a great atmosphere. It might lack some of the more luxurious amenities of the new stadiums, particularly in the concourses. But this is still a solid stadium."

Among the concession available at Acrisure is Primanti Bros., a sandwich shop that is a Pittsburgh institution. Sandwiches include toppings of french fries and coleslaw, and even a fried egg. There are other Primanti Bros. restaurants throughout the city.

Throwback jerseys

The Steelers will wear throwback jerseys for the game harkening back to the Super Bowl-winning teams of the 1970s. They've worn the uniforms three times previously and won all three games.

Getting around Pittsburgh

Acrisure Stadium is about 20 road miles from Pittsburgh International Airport. A bus from the airport to the stadium takes an hour and costs $3. A taxi takes 25 minutes and costs $40-$50.

How to watch or listen to the game

The game will be broadcast on CBS. Fans also can listen to the game on the Packers radio network, whose flagship station is WRNW-FM, 97.3, in Milwaukee. In Green Bay, WIXX-FM, 101.1, carries the game.

CBS announcers for the game are Ian Eagle on play-by-play, Charles Davis as analyst and Evan Washburn as sideline reporter.

Population

Green Bay is the smallest market in the NFL, with a metro area population of 321,591, compared with Pittsburgh's 2.3 million.
