Rick Neuheisel Announces His Pick For National Championship Game
Rick Neuheisel is going with his former employer in next week's national championship game.
Neuheisel spent four seasons as head coach at the University of Washington from 1999-2002, compiling a 33-16 overall record with four bowl trips and a victory in the Rose Bowl following the 2000 season.
On "The Dan Patrick Show" Tuesday, Neuheisel spent plenty of time praising Michigan for beating Alabama in this year's Rose Bowl, but ultimately picked the Huskies to beat the Wolverines for the national title next Monday.
"I'm going to go with Washington," Neuheisel said. "It's at my own peril, because I still think they're the most explosive team and I think it takes some explosivity to win these games. But Michigan just basically took Alabama out to the woodshed, in terms of explosiveness."
Neuheisel added that Washington quarterback Michael Penix Jr. and the "rainmaking ability he has with his left arm" will be hard for Michigan to handle.
Michigan-Washington will kick off at 7:45 p.m. ET next Monday on ESPN.
