$50K Virginia Lottery Ticket Bought in Ashburn

One of the two $50,000 Virginia Lottery winners on January 6, 2016 purchased the ticket in Ashburn.

ASHBURN, VA: While there were no winning jackpot tickets sold for its $500 million drawing on Wednesday, Jan. 6, more than 191,000 tickets that were sold in Virginia won prizes, according to the Virginia Lottery.

Two of these money-winning tickets were worth $50,000.

  • Ashbrook Shell, 20065 Ashbrook Commons Plaza in Ashburn
  • 7-Eleven, 701 Van Buren Street in Herndon

Next Saturday’s jackpot will grow to $675 million, the largest jackpot of any lottery game in U.S. history, according to the Virgtinia Lottery.

If one ticket matches all six numbers, the winner will have a choice: either take the full $675 million jackpot in 30 annual payments, or choose a one-time cash option of approximately $413.1 million before taxes.

The profit from every Powerball ticket bought in Virginia, like tickets from all other Virginia Lottery games, goes to K-12 public education in the Commonwealth.
