1. Choose the Satta Matka Lottery You Wish to Play

The Indian gambling market recognizes a variety of satta matka lotteries. The most common forms are Kalyan Matka and Worli Matka, which were introduced by the legendary Kalyanji Bhagat, a Gujarati farmer turned gambling den owner.

Apart from this, a host of other variations are popular in India, including Tara Matka, Dpboss, Madhur, Milan, Rajadhani, Matka 420, Sridevi, Time Bazar and more. Most of these lotteries run every day or at least five days a week, but at different times.

Take your pick and thoroughly study the game before you begin. While the base game is the same in all of them, subtle variations are not rare. Choose something you can play at a time convenient for you. Also remember that none of these games are government-approved.

2. Select the Bookie With Whom You Want to Play

For a worthwhile session of matka gambling, it is extremely important that you choose a bookie that is trustworthy. Do not jump into playing with anyone and everyone who claims to offer an entry.

Especially, if you are playing it online, know that a majority of the sites on the web are fraud. To find a trusted satta matka bookie, you must look for their track record.

Has this person or site cheated players before? Is there a police case registered against him or the organization? Would you be paid the standard amount if you happen to win? Do all the sleuthing you need to make sure you are choosing the right matka bookie.

Below is a matka gambling site you might want to try. I have personally tested it out to confirm it is authentic. The games are not quite like traditional satta matka; they come with their own modern twists. Nevertheless, I liked them and thought you might like them as well.

3. Follow the Satta Calculation Formula

Here comes the most crucial part! To play this Indian lottery, you need to learn the satta calculation formula. Although it is not a prerequisite, knowing it gives you a fair idea about how the lottery works.

For the uninitiated, things might get quickly confusing when trying to understand matka gambling. I have tried my best to simplify the rules and the math behind the game. Read on.

Every matka game happens twice on the day it is organized. In each of these two bidding timings, the result would depend on three playing cards (known as pana) or numbers that are drawn randomly. A deck of 52 cards minus the Kings, Queens and Jacks is used for matka gambling.

  • Aces are valued at 1
  • 2 through 9 are taken at face value
  • 10 is valued at 0

If you are playing satta matka offline and one-on-one with the dealer, the latter would shuffle all the cards in front of you, lay them face down in a single line, and ask you to pick three cards without flipping them. If you are playing the game online, the cards will be drawn by the dealer.

A pana in satta matka is always arranged in the ascending order. For instance, 123 is a valid pana, but 231 or 213 are not. Exception to the rule is when there is a 0, which is always pushed to the third position.

When it comes to placing a bet, every player gets to bet once prior to the opening time (also known as opening pana/panna/patti) and again prior to the closing time (also known as closing pana/panna/patti). The opening time is the first draw and the closing time the second. The window between the two is usually one hour, but it can vary depending on the game you choose.

Please note that players must place their bets before the bidding time begins. For instance, if a certain matka game opens at 1 PM, you must place all your bets by 12:30 PM. If it closes at 2 PM, you must place your bets by 1:30 PM.

For each bet, a player must choose a number between 0 and 9 and wager a certain monetary value they prefer. Now, let me explain with an example why it is done and what is the mathematical calculation behind it.

Let’s assume the pana 245 was drawn during the opening period. The dealer would then add up the numbers on the cards.

2 + 4 + 5 = 11

Since 11 is a double-digit number, the last digit, 1 would be taken into consideration for the outcome of the draw.

Again, let’s assume during the closing period, the dealer draws another pana 123 and adds up the numbers.

1 + 2 + 3 = 6

In this case the resulting number 6 alone would suffice.

Your final card would look something like this:

2,4,5*1x6*1,2,3

Therefore, 1 and 6 are the actual numbers on which the players would be placing their bets. They would win or lose depending on whether they can correctly guess either or both of the two resulting numbers.

Prior to betting, no player would be aware of the pana that is drawn during the opening or closing draw. This aspect spices up the lottery where lady luck must smile upon you if you wish to win.

You may place as many bets as you want provided you do it before the cards are drawn. To increase your chances of winning, we suggest you place multiple bets on each draw.

Please note that the above calculations are true for single and jodi bets (discussed later in the article). These are the basic bet types. However, other variations exist as well, which I have discussed in the next pointer.

4. Decide on the Bet Type

Now that you know the math behind matka gambling, you must also learn about the bet types that stem out of the same result but define different payouts. In traditional satta matka, there are seven bet types:

  • Single (Ank)
  • Single Patti/Pana
  • Double Patti/Pana
  • Triple Patti/Pana
  • Jodi
  • Half Sangam
  • Sangam

Let’s analyze each of these bet types.

What Is a Single (Ank) Bet?

A single (ank) in matka is a bet placed on the possible total value of a pana during either opening or closing of the draw. In the above example, if you can correctly guess that the outcome would be 1 during opening or 6 during closing, you win. If you happen to bet on any other number between 0 to 9, you lose.

Now, let’s assume you place a single bet of ₹100 on the opening pana on the number 1. Your bet would look something like this:

Open | Single | 1 x 100

Similarly, a single bet of ₹100 on the closing pana on the number 6 would look something like this:

Close | Single | 6 x 100

Like I discussed earlier, you can place multiple bets on the opening and closing pana in matka. But, although you are free to place bets as low as ₹1, the bookie would almost always set a minimum and maximum stake value, which usually ranges between ₹50 and ₹500.

Since the numbers 0 to 9 are taken into consideration, the payout is 9/1. It means, a bet of ₹100 would fetch you ₹900 if you win. On the other hand, a loss would mean you are not getting your money back.

What Is a Single Patti/Pana Bet?

A single patti in matka is a bet placed on the possible opening or closing pana, where no card values are repeated. It is different from single (ank) bet which takes into consideration only the sum of the three values in each draw.

Following the example discussed earlier, a single patti matka bet worth ₹100 would look something like this:

Open | Single Patti | 2, 4, 5 x 100

Or

Close | Single Patti | 1, 2, 3 x 100

Each card value in a single patti bet has to be unique. For instance, you cannot place a single patti bet on possible outcomes like 111, 223 or 355. Instead, sequences such as 123, 240 or 368 would be valid.

Of course, a number that appears in the opening sequence may be repeated in the closing sequence.

You must also remember that each sequence would correspond to a number (ank) between 0 and 9. For instance, a card combination of 1, 2 and 8 would correspond to 1 (ank) because they total up to 11, where the last digit is 1.

Refer to this single patti chart to know all the possible combinations:

9126-135-180-234-270-289-360-379-450-469-478-568

The payout in a single patti bet is 140/1. For every ₹100 you bet, you would receive 100 x 140 = ₹14,000 if you win.

What Is a Double Patti/Pana Bet?

A double patti in matka is a bet placed on the possible opening or closing pana, where two numbers must be repeated. It differs from a single (ank) bet which is all about the sum of each pana and even from a single patti bet, where numbers must not be repeated in a sequence.

For instance, a bet worth ₹100 placed on the possibility of the numbers 1, 2, and 2 appearing during the opening or closing draw would be a double patti bet in matka gambling. It would look something like this:

Open | Double Patti | 1, 2, 2 x 100

Or

Close | Double Patti | 1, 2, 2 x 100

Each sequence in a double patti bet would correspond to a number (ank) between 0 and 9. Below is the double patti chart, listing all the possible combinations:

9900-117-144-199-225-388-559-577-667

The payout in a double patti bet is 270/1. For every ₹100 you bet, you would receive 100 x 270 = ₹27,000 if you win.

What Is a Triple Patti/Pana Bet?

A triple patti in matka is a bet placed on the possible opening or closing pana, where all the three numbers must be the same. It is different from a single (ank) bet that considers the sum of each pana.

A triple patti bet is also different from a single patti and double patti bet regarding the combination of card values. The former has to have all the values unique whereas the latter needs two matching number in the sequence.

Below is an example of a triple patti bet worth ₹100 placed on the possibility of the numbers 2, 2, and 2 appearing during the opening or closing draw.

Open | Triple Patti | 2, 2, 2 x 100

Or

Close | Triple Patti | 2, 2, 2 x 100

Each sequence in a triple patti bet should correspond to a number (ank) between 0 and 9. Below is the triple patti chart, listing the possible combinations:

AnkTriple Patti Card Combinations

1777
2444
3111
4888
5555
6222
7999
8666
9333

The payout in a triple patti bet is 600/1. For every ₹100 you bet, you would receive 100 x 600 = ₹60,000 for a win.

What Is a Jodi Bet?

A jodi bet in matka gambling is placed on the combination of summation result of the opening and closing pana. ‘Jodi’ is a Hindi word that translates to ‘Pair’ in English.

For instance, if three cards 1, 2 and 3 are drawn during the opening and 1, 3, and 4 during the closing, the resulting outcomes would be 6 and 8 respectively. Therefore, 68 is the jodi number you would place your bet on.

Jodi bets pay out either 90/1 or 95/1. It means for every ₹100 you bet, you would receive 100 X 90 = ₹9000 or 100 X 95 = ₹9500 for a win.

What Is a Half Sangam Bet?

A half sangam bet in matka is formed by combining the open single ank with the closing pana or the closing single ank with the opening pana. For instance, let’s assume the cards 2, 3, and 4 are drawn during the opening, and 1, 2, and 4 are drawn during the closing of the draw.

  • Single ank for the opening draw is 2 + 3 + 4 = 9
  • Single ank for the closing draw is 1 + 2 + 4 = 7

Therefore, a half sangam bet could either be 234 X 7 or 124 X 9. The payout is 1,400/1, which means for every ₹100 you bet, you would receive 100 X 1,400 = ₹140,000.

What Is a Sangam Bet?

A sangam bet in matka is formed by combining the opening pana and closing pana. Following the aforementioned example, a sangam bet would look like this: 234 X 124. The payout is 15,000/1, which means for every ₹100 you bet, you would receive 100 X 15,000 = ₹1,500,000.

Depending on the matka game you play, all or some of these bet types would be available. For instance, Time Bazar matka allows single, single patti, double patti, triple patti, and jodi bets. However, to place a half sangam or sangam bet, you must choose something like Kalyan matka.

Let’s move on quickly to the next step.

5. Pick the Part in Which You Want to Place Your Bet

As discussed above, each matka game runs in two phases: an opening part and a closing part. You may choose to bet on the opening or closing part or on both (total result). Please note that depending on the phase you choose, certain bet types might be unavailable.

For instance, you cannot place a jodi, sangam or half sangam bet on the closing part. You must place such bets prior to the opening part of the draw. If you choose either the open or close part, you can place single, single patti, double patti and triple patti bets only.

6. Select Your Preferred Number(s) and Place a Bet

Finally, it’s time to enter the draw. In the offline mode, you would need to mark your preferred numbers as well as bet types on a lottery ticket and pay the bet amount in cash. The date and time of draw would be mentioned on the ticket itself.

The online mode is similar, but payments should be made using banking methods such as credit and debit cards, e-wallets or cryptocurrencies. If you are lucky enough, you might also find options such as UPI and IMPS.

7. Check the Results

In my honest opinion, knowing how to read and understand matka result charts is more important than knowing how to play the lottery. This is how a matka result chart looks like (this example is of a typical Kalyan chart):

satta matka chart

Players must understand that the results are declared in two parts: open and close. The columns ‘O’ represent the opening draw while the columns ‘C’ stand for the closing draw.

  • Results of the opening draw would look something like this: 123-6, where 123 is the opening panna and 6 is the total value of the drawn cards.
  • Results of the closing draw would look something like this: 234-9, where 234 is the closing panna and 9 is the total value of the drawn cards.
  • The final result would look something like this: 123-69-234. Here, 69 is the jodi, 123-6 and 9-234 are half sangam, and 123-234 is the sangam.
  • Jodis may be marked in red. Before I explain why, you must understand the concept of cut numbers.

Cut numbers in matka gambling

To add more thrill to matka, certain single ank numbers are often linked to each other in the game. These are known as cut numbers, which are usually 5 more or 5 less than one another.

Examples of cut numbers:

  • 0 and 5
  • 1 and 6
  • 2 and 7
  • 3 and 8
  • 4 and 9

If a jodi is marked in red, it means the two numbers in it are the same or belong to the same cut. If you study the image above, the jodi 27 marked in red has 2 and 7, which are cut numbers. Similarly, the jodi 99 has been marked in red because both numbers are the same. Jodis with different numbers that are not cut numbers are usually marked in black. But, they may also be marked in half red in some matka games.

So what do cut numbers do? Honestly, I'm not sure. However, they seem to be linked to payouts in one way or another.

Now that you have learnt how to interpret the results, go check them out! Celebrate if you win and try again if you lose.
