Detailed Reviews
This hotel is a great bargain for those needing a no frills quiet bed for the night. The front desk staff were very friendly and charged us only CUC 20 for the night (double occupancy), including bike storage in the room behind the front counter. There is an apparent need for some repairs - for example when I filled the washbasin in our bathroom, the water was not draining properly, and I realized quite quickly that the pipe to the wall did not exist and the water would slowly drip onto the bathroom floor and then head for the door. But of course, for 20 bucks, this minor flaw didn't matter too much, and we diverted to the shower, which worked very well. The bar in the lobby provides drinks next to some planted vegetation, and the Cafe Cubano was extemely good (and cheap). There didn't appear to be food to be had in this hotel, and so we went to a restaurant (Restaurante Ensuenos) recommended in the Lonely Planet, which was located two blocks away (Calle 15 Norte) and had great food and local (Pinar del Rio) wine at a price no hotel restaurant could beat (about CUC 13 for two hungry bicyclists). The room was clean and fairly large and a quiet night enhanced two bicyclist's experience immensely. Agree with review of "Dirk D" as well.

The main advantage of this hotel is its central location. It is not central to the downtown core, however it is central to the main roads coming into and leaving town and it is easy to find.
Architecturally, the place is another one of the soviet style monolithic piles, lacking much character, that is common to the Isazul inventory of hotels. The brutish looking desk clerk apparently took a like to me as he offered me a high season price for a single room under CUC 20.00, breakfast included. The room, however, had only been cleaned in a cursory fashion, as flipping opening the lid on the toilet revealed a dumping of cigarette ashes and other intimate garbage that had been overlooked by the cleaning staff. Otherwise, the room was adequate.
Breakfast fare was adequate but uninspiring, the service friendly but rather indifferent.
The pool is large, however this area was deserted when I was not in the mood to venture near it during the time I was there.
The Internet worked.
The open area around the first floor bar has a rather civilized ambiance. This is not a bad area to relax with drink. You can see a good distance from here, although the main view is only of the parking lot.
The staff were helpful when asked.
On balance, I cannot complain. Slightly run down, but a good standby alternative, this hotel provided a decent room at a rock bottom price. You get what you pay for.

Very tired hotel. Breakfast room opened 45 mins late with no obvious reason why. It's an expensive option so find a casa if you can. Room clean but TV was erratic at best. Staff were ok and pretty helpful.

This is an ok hotel for a night if traveling to Santiago de Cuba or Baracoa and want to spend the night at Guantanamo city. It is not in a central location but has a nice sized pool and the breakfast a la carte is included with some hot items. Not a great hotel, but again for a night you will get clean linen and a bed to rest. Most attendants are very nice and will do anything out of their way to accomodate your needs, but do not forget you are in a third world country. Enjoy and relax. It's not the end of the world either.

Isle of Man, United Kingdom354 contributions164 helpful votesStayed 1 night as part of the tour. There is a bar on ground floor and then another on first floor where there is also a restaurant. The group managed to sell out their cans of beer! The food was poor quality. At breakfast, the items were quickly taken and slowly replaced. The hot dishes did not appear edible. The room was ok- 2 single beds and there was hot water in the shower. The hotel seemed slightly outside the town so did not feel able to walk around the area. I guess there is limited choice in the area...

We been here because we had an emergency with our car in Guantanamo. We ask for the suite thinking we was going to get the better, but when we got it we really thought if that was the better we didn't even want to imagine the double room how looks like. The rooms are very dark, with dark curtains and new aluminum doors that looks horrible with the wood style that the rooms have. The shower couldn't be worst, we had a little line of hot water coming out all the time and we need one hour to finish the shower. No inn room service, no international shannels, the air conditioner is like a ice machine, after some time trough out ice cubes ( yes, ice cubes from the air system). No balcony and is the suite. The hotel at least have wifi provide by Etecsa the only company in Cuba and you most buy the cards somewhere else because they never have at the reception. I will don't go back to this hotel. Really disappointed :(

This seems like a pretty standard hotel. We just called in one morning for a quick refreshment stop. The bar was open for cold drinks and there is plenty of comfortable seating in the airy public spaces. The staff served efficiently. The rest rooms were spartan but functional and clean.

I choose this Hotel because it was not situated smack in the centre of the already cramped and poverty stricken city of Guantanamo.
This hotel is located in a nice, clean and leafy suburb (reparto ) called Caribe.
Its the largest hotel in the city and provides basic rooms at a reasonable rate...breakfast included.
They also serve dinner in the dinng room but i never partook, instead i chose to dine in the Paladares ( privately owned restaurants)
The Lobby bar was by far my favorite place to hang out, knocking back a few beers and people watching.
The pool is fairly sized in comparision to the hotel and it gets cleaned everyday.
You may want to get there early if you are there on Saturday or Sunday because it gets packed pretty quickly with the locals who are allowed to use it for a nominal fee of around $10 CUC and that includes consumption of drink/ food items.
Taxis are always available outside and there is a Car rental agency onsite ($80-$100 CUC per day)
The hotel is 5 minutes away from the city and should be no more than $3 in a taxi and $1 on a Bicitaxi (bicycle taxi)
I will more than likely stay at this hotel again when i am in the Guantanamo area..seeing that it is reasonably priced for what you actually get and is arguably the best of a bad lot.
