Seven Mile Beach

Grand Cayman

Considered the “Jewel of the Cayman Islands,” Seven Mile Beach is the most popular vacation spot on the Cayman Islands. Many of Grand Cayman’s luxurious resorts and seaside hotels can be found scattered along Seven Mile Beach. The beach is public, so even if you’re not staying at one of the local resorts, you can still enjoy the beach’s powdery white sand and turquoise waters. Many restaurants are also dispersed along the beach, so after a long morning of relaxing with toes in the sand, visitors can enjoy lunch or dinner while sipping on a cocktail and listening to the soft waves crashing on the shore. This beach is excellent for families as the water is usually safe for swimming.

Grand Cayman

If you’re looking for a secluded beach in the Cayman Islands, Starfish Point is the perfect getaway. This beach is located on the island’s North side, just southwest of Rum Point. Visitors can get to this small beach area by car or boat. Many boat tours stop off at Starfish Point to see the beach’s main attraction: starfish. The beach itself is small and is surrounded by calm shallow waters. A few feet from shore, the seabed drops to about ten feet. While visitors can usually see some of the starfish in the shallow waters, most are hidden in the deeper waters. Make sure to bring your snorkel or join a boat tour to view the starfish in the depths of the water.

This area is great for beginner snorkelers who want to stay close to shore and catch their first glimpse of fish near a reef. Close to shore, the shallow waters are typically calm and easily swimmable. Smith Cove is a highly-rated beach for those wanting to avoid the crowds while snorkeling.

Cemetery Beach

Grand Cayman

Located in the Northern part of Seven Mile Beach, and technically part of it, Cemetery Beach is still worth mentioning on its own. The name comes from the old cemetery that stands just behind the beach. This small stretch of Seven Mile Beach is one of the few areas with decent snorkeling. There are some reefs located a bit off the coast, so experienced snorkelers can swim out about 60 yards and see a variety of sea life. The water just off the shore is shallow and perfect for swimming, but as swimmers get farther away, the depth drops to about twenty feet. This beach is ideal for visitors who wish to stay on Seven Mile Beach but avoid the crowds.

Beach Amenities: Portable Restrooms, No Rentals Available, and Roadside Public Parking.

This beach is known for the sea turtles that can be seen when snorkeling or sometimes just offshore as they come up for air. While there is a reef off the beach, it is quite far from shore, so snorkeling should only be attempted by the experienced snorkeler. However, if you are not an experienced snorkeler, this can still be a lovely beach to relax on as it is not very crowded during the weekdays.
