- Robert C. HHomewood, AL1 contributionGreat experience! Highly recommend to anyone interested in the night sky and the workings of a legit observatory. Travis was an excellent guide. Very informative and entertaining. Answered many questions thoroughly. Keep in mind that it is an hour and a half drive down the winding Mt Lemmon park road at night back to Tucson if you don’t stay up in the village of Summerhaven at the Ski Resort. Also know the last two mile drive up to the observatory is narrow, winding and with no guardrails. I drove up in my Ford Transit dually with no issues. The presentation about telescopes during the sandwich dinner was very informative. The sunset photo session was amazing and the hour spent observing stars, novas, and galaxies through the 30inch telescope was truly amazing. The views were breathtaking, the repelling spectacular, and the bouldering and scrambling was just so fun. The Chapel was such a nice stop on the way to lift our spirits and stretch our legs. The Tombstone shootout was really impressive! The memories are going to be lifelong! Do better. I’ve used self guided audio tours from other companies and the audio broke through whatever we were listening to on our car radio, without volume control problems. - DeAndre MCharlotte, NC3 contributionsThis was the highlight of our trip to Tucson. My buddies and I came down here on vacation not realizing how hot it was going to be in September (oops). Trying to get out of the heat we were looking for things to do up in the mountains and found this company randomly.
Beautiful up there and our guide knew all the best spots, taught us the ropes (no pun intended), and facilitated an amazing day for us. Don't be scared if you're not the most athletic, lord knows I'm not! But I had a great time and got up about 5 or 6 different beginner routes our guide choose.
