What travelers are saying
- Nicholas GWest Hartford, CT15 contributionsThis is such a great spot to walk and explore! You can easily walk about a mile just by meandering around the park. We went in late October and there were still some flowers in the garden,Written October 22, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - ChrisN438Clifton Park, NY124 contributionsThe beach is nice and the restrooms are clean.
Perhaps because of the woods or marsh nearby, we were pestered by flies biting at our lower legs while we sat on the beach.
People who complain about the "unfair" charges need to put it in perspective. Ocean Beach Park isn't very far away. On a weekday, we found Waterford to cost $25 for non-residents and Ocean Beach to cost $30. It's perfectly reasonable for the town to charge a hefty fee to discourage non-residents from consuming the limited space. Even as a non-resident, you can save a few bucks and enjoy a quieter environment at Waterford.Written August 11, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It is a fast action track and many drivers have honed their skills here. Saturday night races are the ones you want to attend. Some children have a problem with the noise so beware.Written May 18, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - wildswanDelawareDelaware567 contributionsLinked to O'Neill's family 'Monte Cristo Cottage' in nearby New London, we were highly impressed with the training/performing/living facilities here...what a stimulating spot for creativity in acting/dance/puppetry & music...or 'play-writing a la O'Neill himself'. Special thanks to our Center staff guide 'John' & intern 'Joe' for their hosting our visit and leading us thru this wonderful facility. We hope to return in future for a live performance.
An excellent stop for theater-lovers; recommend booking ahead, of course ;-)Written June 5, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The beach itself has a small raft and lots of lifeguards during the summer months. floats are allowed on the private beach, not sure about the public part as Waterford Beach Park, that is part of the same public beach organization does not allow floats. You need to show badges if you are using the private section of the beach and there is a security guard at the entrance to the parking lot at the boat launch. For the public portion of the beach there is a parking lot on shore road towards the left side of the beach. Access there is a little further walk.Written June 4, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- NewEnglandTraveler23Glastonbury, CT262 contributionsInteresting, ornate architecture of old buildings now shuttered. The buildings are all fenced off so you can only see them from a distance but one can tell it was once a lovely building. The parking lot is extremely small it seems only room for a handful of cars.
Just a heads up cell service was non existent for me on the grounds, if anyone needed to be available for calls/communication/or if your car doesn't start etc just be awareWritten December 4, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
