DECATUR — Virgil Coffman was born January 16,908 in Perkins, La. The son of Kelly and Etta Lee (Bridgewater) Coffman. He died February 18, 2013 at the age of 105. He married May Seaton, March 31,928 in Springfield, IL. She preceded him in death in 1996. They had three children Richard, Robert and Sarah, all of whom preceded him in death. He worked as a chemist for General Motors from 1942 until his retirement in 1973.He belonged to the Elks, Moose Lodge, and was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Noble, Vernon, Herschel, Merlin, Herman, Wayne, and Dale, and sisters; Bertie Sanner, Dorothy Probst, Franciel Lamb, and Virginia Baker.
He leaves grandchildren Diane Sherohman and Lora Lewis.
He leaves great-grandchildren Steve Sherohman, Stacey Mannings, Heidi Lewis, Caley Lewis, and Rachel Jamison, great-great-grandchildren Alden, Annsley, Landon, Reice, Hailee, Justin, and Crystal.
Virgil was a lover of automobiles his whole life and could be seen sporting around town in his bright yellow Camaro, which he bought at the age of 102.
Family suggests memorials to DMH Hospice or Wesley United Meth Church.
Graveside service will be held 1O:30 Am, on April 20, 2013, at South Macon Township Cemetery in Macon, IL.
