Samson was the grandson of Rev. Samson Occum I believe he was the son of Andrew Gifford Occum & his wife patiences.The (obit) reads Lads of Occum- The last two of this family of Mohegan tribe of Indians lately died at mohegan-Benonti Occum,son and Samson Occum,grandson of the late Rev.Samson Occum the reknowned Indian preacher I hear that only about seventy of the once numerous and present Mohegan tribe rest of the artical not readable.
