A good job to have to take of a family
Warehouse Associate (Former Employee) - Texas City, TX - March 18, 2021
Work was different each and every day. While working at UCC, we would get to meet different people that didn’t work in the same department with us. A person would get to learn a great deal with hands on doing a job.

COMPUTER PROGRAMMER (Former Employee) - Paducah, KY - November 21, 2019
Since my experiences are from 1977 to 1983, I do not think they would be relevant in today's world, but Union Carbide was a good company to work for back then.

Company no longer exists
Manager (Former Employee) - Houston, TX - March 11, 2019
Not sure how to review a company that quit existing about 20 years ago. Though it was far above their competitors in their technology, they lacked the marketing/sales skills to overcome the safety tragedy in India.

Great company
Operator Technician (Former Employee) - Texas City - August 28, 2018
My experience with Union Carbide was a great one. There was a family atmosphere and lasting friendships. I don't want to bash Dow, but that was a totally different work environment. I stayed with Carbide after the Dow merger until I hit 50 years of age. I took early retirement and left the company to pursue other interest in the Safety World.
Union Carbide promoted me to Safety in 1996 and I loved it and thank them for the opportunity. I am still working safety to this day and I love it!
Pros
Time off

Contract Technical Writer & Editor (Former Employee) - Houston, TX - September 18, 2017
I was only a contractor, so I can't really say much about Union Carbide. My manager was overall nice guy, but didn't really know much about the project I was working on because it was being driven by Global IT group.
Pros
Reasonable place to work
Cons
Sometimes a little chaotic

VBA Developer (Former Employee) - Charleston, WV - January 4, 2016
Union Carbide was the type of company that treated its employees like family. There were Summer camps for the kids, a softball team, an onsite gym, and more.
The had high standards for quality, expected a strong work ethic, and rewarded their employees for a job well done.
