A long time ago, I read somewhere that all shopping malls have their own personalities. I find this one cold and not welcoming. We live clear across town, and so, come here very seldom. Some malls are a pleasure to stroll through, here we park at Dillard's, and when we leave that store, instead of walking over to Macy's, we drive over. This is the only mall ever, where instead of walking, we drive from store to store.

That is so silly, but we hate to walk through it. Maybe it's the lack of plants or seating areas (not that we like to sit in malls, but those couches and benches add to the atmosphere). The floor is also harder on the feet, and our feet begin aching. The noise and commotion seem to bounce off the walls, and make it even noisier. The music they pipe in is irritating. Anyway, this is not our type of mall.

That being said, Dillard's and Macy's do have a fantastic selection of merchandise at the Tucson Mall. If I can't find it at the Park Place Mall, I will find it here. Do like the Hallmark store here, as well as See's Candy. The only Cinnabon in Tucson is here. We used to love those, but I think their recipe has changed, and now, we pass it by. The Food Court always appears noisy, crowded, and any empty tables remain dirty until someone shows up to wipe them (that can take 10 minutes, so you are better off wiping it yourself!). Bathrooms are hit and miss, and the ones inside Macy's or Dillard's are much cleaner.

Today I went to REI, which stands outside the Tucson Mall and decided to take a look inside the shopping center. It had been years since I visited the mall. As soon as I entered, I remembered why. A big blast of Arctic air greeted me. Why so cold, I wondered. I rounded the corner and noted the sun pouring down into the atrium. The A/C had to be on high to cool the place down and it still wasn't doing a good job in many areas. I could only imagine what the experience must be like in summer.

No unusual shops greeted me. The mall covers two levels, offering only standard stores ... Macy's, Dillard's Sears, J.C. Penney, Victoria Secret, HM, etc. Maybe there is a local store or two, but I only saw chains. Escalators, elevators and stairs connect the two levels. The floors gleamed, looking like they had just been cleaned. I thought the decor could use an update, anything to add a little pizazz.

The food court features the usual suspects -- Philly Steak, Taco Bell, Chipolte, Subway, Orange Julius and the list goes on. At 2 p.m., the longest line had formed at Sarku Japan. A nearby Starbucks also attracted many customers, and a Cheesecake Factory is outside by REI. I saw no local eateries.

No movie theatres or other draws exist here. There is some covered parking, however, which is a plus. But overall, I saw nothing special at this mall, just the same ole, same ole.

The mall is very nice, well maintained and the new restaurants are great. But Tucson really needs a Nordstrom. They should put one here.

The mall is too small and is crowded due to this fact. Children run around being loud and unsupervised. The customers have a bad sense of fashion and need to dress more professional. I shall stick to having my valet run my errands.

This is a very large mall that has two stories of stores. I would consider this a large mall even if only had one story, but the second story adds so much more. There is such a wide variety of stores here that anyone looking for particular brands, especially clothing, would likely find anything they want here. It's also very clean and very well maintained. The food court is pretty good too. The Starbucks right in the middle of it is a very nice touch. It also feels very safe too and it's easily accessible by numerous streets.

This mall is clean and has good retail outlets. Parking was good. Recommend this mall for one stop shopping with many the popular stores.

Tucson Mall is a trendy, fun mall. The only downside is that it doesn't have a movie theatre. It does have extensive dining options nearby, and it's two story floor plan allows for a ton of shopping options. I recommend parking near the food court for a centralized entry point.

I guess it lacks a couple of true coffee shops, but there are very few of those in Tucson - maybe it's the heat. It's well laid out and directions are easy. Perhaps more public toilets than just the ones in the food court would be good, but parking is ample and you can get a great Chinese massage too.
