  1. Is a fifth place Champions League spot enough?published at 11:54 28 March

    Michael Brown

BBC Sport pundit Michael Brown has been answering your questions on all things Premier League.

Tim asked: Tottenham hit the ground running this season, but the hit-and-miss run of form more recently has fans starting to doubt the high press 'Angeball' approach. What would success look like for Ange this season? Is a fifth place Champions League spot enough to say 'job done'?

Michael replied: Champions League would be a great success. We have seen a full transition in the style of Spurs and there have been exciting games.

It has been what Spurs fans have wanted to see.

In their last game, I interviewed him at Fulham and he said it was the first time he had seen the levels of their intensity and desire drop. That leads into the conversation of whether they can play that way all season.

As for 'Angeball', I have never seen games like it! It has certainly been entertaining.

  3. 'I was reaching my limit' - Richarlison on his battle with depressionpublished at 16:49 27 March

    RicharlisonImage source, Getty Images

Tottenham's Brazil striker Richarlison has revealed that everything "fell apart" for him after his nation was eliminated from the 2022 World Cup, as he battled with depression.

The 26-year-old announced in September that he would seek psychological help after he was photographed crying on the bench during Brazil's 5-1 win over Bolivia in a 2026 World Cup qualifier.

"I'd just played in a World Cup, at my peak," Richarlison told ESPN Brasil, discussing the need for people to seek help.

"I was reaching my limit. I was in a depression there and I wanted to give up - even me, who seemed to be mentally strong.

"After the World Cup, it seemed like it all fell apart.

"Before I went to training, I wanted to go home - I wanted to go back to my room.

"I even went and told my dad I was going to give up. It's kind of sad to talk like that."

The Spurs forward is now encouraging others to get therapy too, citing the positive impact it has made for him.

"I think the therapist, like it or not, saved me - saved my life.

"If you need a psychologist, look for one. It's nice for you to open up like that, for you to be talking to the person."

  4. Tottenham v Luton: Pick of the statspublished at 14:50 27 March

Here are the key statistics before Tottenham host Luton Town on Saturday.

    • Tottenham are unbeaten in their past 10 league games against Luton and are looking to complete their first league double over the Hatters since 1983-84.

    • Luton have won just one of their 16 top-flight games at Spurs, beating them 3-1 in November 1985. Their last visit was a 4-1 defeat in November 1991.

    • Since beating Brighton in January, Luton are without a win in their past eight league matches. Away from home they have conceded four or more goals in three of their past four games.

    • Tottenham have won nine of their past 10 Premier League games against newly promoted sides, with their only defeat coming at home against Bournemouth last season.

    • Some 36% of Luton's points this season have come from goals in the final 10 minutes - more than any other side.

    • Spurs full-back Pedro Porro has had the most shots (37) and accumulated the highest xG (2.2) of any player yet to score in the Premier League this season.

This means Spurs' all-time leading goalscorer Harry Kane and long-serving defender Eric Dier will return to their former home this summer.

It will be the 12th meeting between Tottenham and the Bundesliga giants, as pre-season arrangements for Ange Postecoglou's side take shape.

  6. The three things Spurs need between now and the end of the seasonpublished at 13:04 26 March

    Anna Howells
    Fan writer

It goes without saying that one Tottenham's goals for the season is to finish high enough in the Premier League to secure European football, ideally a Champions League spot.

In order to meet this target, there are three things we need to happen:

    Improved mentality

When things go our way, we are unstoppable. We saw it at the beginning of the season and in fleeting moments since, the style of play and the confidence is unmatched.

However, when we aren’t quite bringing our A game to the table, we can get complacent, run out of ideas or get carried away in the heat of the moment.

A truly great team will have a strong mental conviction about their abilities and know how they will execute their gameplan.

    Better consistency

In performances and in taking chances we create.

If we can improve on our finishing, that will give us the confidence needed to continue with the way we have been set up to play.

    Use home advantage

We also need to make the most of the fact we still have five home games left this season.

We must build up the momentum at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and carry that into the away games - and hopefully into next season as well.

Hopefully, we can not only reach our goals, but build on them for the years to come.

  8. 'Not taking the Carabao Cup seriously' - your biggest gripes of the seasonpublished at 13:03 25 March

    Your views banner

We asked you what the most irritating thing at your club has been this season, whether it be inconsistency, injuries or a player failing to deliver.

Here are some of your replies:

Kenny: It’s got to be the inherent 'Spursiness' that comes with supporting Tottenham, but I wouldn’t change it for the world. COYS.

Paul: Tottenham's high line at the back. They are too compact in the middle and leave far too much space for wide play on both sides. Lack of cover on each side is not good.

Michael: Fans with stupidly high 'now' expectations. We are run incredibly well financially despite the protestation of a tiny minority. I was happy at the start of the season that 'we've got our Tottenham back', despite dire predictions. We need to accept that it's a long way to right the problems of the past four years. Get real, enjoy the present, and look to the rosy future.

Keef: It's been a good season so far with exciting football, and we have our Tottenham back. I have one gripe and one regret. The gripe: we don't seem to have a plan B and even if only one player is missing from our best 11, we struggle, as per the Fulham game. The regret: not taking the Carabao Cup seriously.

Steve: Inconsistency. Sometimes we win when everyone thinks we are going to lose, and we lose when we are expected to win. I really want Spurs to lose the 'Spursy' tag and be consistent. It's been too long now.

Paul: There are times when I watch Tottenham and think we now have the best two central defenders and we still concede the goals we do. So here’s the thing, they are not learning from their mistakes, and given they only play once a week, why are we seeing a big drop-off in energy in some games? I put this down to the way they are coached, or lack of it.

  12. Solomon has another 'minor surgery'published at 11:47 20 March

Tottenham have confirmed that Manor Solomon has had surgery on his meniscus injury.

The 24-year-old forward has been on the sidelines since the end of September, after picking up the right knee injury which resulted in surgery at the time.

Boss Ange Postecoglou last gave an update on the forward in his pre-match news conference before Saturday's 3-0 defeat by Fulham.

In a statement on Wednesday, the club said Solomon had another "minor surgery" on Tuesday, but no timeline has been given for his return.

Solomon recently shared his own injury update on Instagram, which read: "Hi everyone. Lately I've been away from social media and focusing solely on my rehab and getting back on the field.

"The last period has been the most difficult and frustrating in my career.

"In the past five months, I've been working as hard as possible to get back to doing what I love the most, but unfortunately I haven't fully recovered yet.

"At the same time, I'm full of motivation and will continue to do everything in order to be back stronger than ever to help my club and country.

"Thank you for your support. See you guys soon."

The Israel international is set to continue his rehabilitation with Tottenham's medical staff in the coming weeks.

  13. 'Champions League would mark remarkable progress'published at 09:59 20 March

    John Wenham
    Fan writer

    Tottenham fan's voice graphic

Spurs put in their worst performance of the season at Craven Cottage just six days after their best in the 4-0 victory at Villa Park.

While immediate frustrations were naturally high, missing an opportunity to move into the top four, a look at the bigger picture and the obvious progress being made under Ange Postecoglou reads positively.

That was just a third defeat in their last 13 Premier League fixtures. Not many predicted Spurs to be sitting in fifth place with a six-point lead over Manchester United after selling Harry Kane and undergoing a complete rebuild to the style of play and squad.

Owing to new Uefa coefficient rules and West Ham's victory over Freiburg, fifth place is looking increasingly likely to count for a spot in next season's Champions League and that would mark remarkable progress for this young Tottenham side.

The early season form might have skewed expectations, but Postecoglou has really hit the ground running and looks on course to bring Champions League football back to N17 at the first time of asking.

  14. Postecoglou 'deserves time to make Spurs a top-four side'published at 09:47 20 March

    Pat Nevin
    Former footballer and presenter

Tottenham manager Ange PostocoglouImage source, Getty Images

Just when Tottenham had the chance to muscle their way into the top four, they did something very, and I hesitate to write this, ‘Spursy’.

‌Famously they have had a habit of grabbing defeat from the jaws of victory, but I think this is unfair on the current side. Fulham are tasty at home, Rodrigo Muniz is looking twice as good a player every time he plays and Spurs’ current position is still a very acceptable position considering it is Ange Postecoglou’s first season.

‌He deserves time to make Spurs a top-four side, even if they might miss out this time.

  15. 'Adaptability doesn’t exist in Spurs' dictionary'published at 16:42 18 March

    Anna Howells
    Fan writer

    Tottenham fan's voice graphic

Adaptability does not seem to exist in Spurs’ dictionary.

If there is one thing that seems to be apparent this season, it is that despite all the high and lows, we do not seem to take any lessons from them.

We have a plan A that fits 11 players and it can be executed fantastically, as demonstrated by some lovely wins this season. The downside is that when one or more of those players are not available, we do not adapt accordingly.

We do not change the system to suit the players in the line-up and we also do not adapt the formation to counteract our opponents. We struggle to break down teams that sit back, but we also get caught out on the counter attack far more times than we should.

Furthermore, we do not adapt during the game. When the writing is on the wall, instead of making the necessary changes earlier rather than later, we just double down and stick to our guns. By the time changes are made, sometimes it is too late.

It drives me up the wall.

Most of us would have hoped the win against Aston Villa meant we turned a corner, but the loss against Fulham proved that is not the case.

The manager has to take most of the responsibility for this inconsistent form; however, the players are not faultless when they do not perform to the standards they should.

We did not just lose a game, we also lost the chance to get in the driving seat for a top-four finish before the international break.

Tottenham and Newcastle are set to play a friendly in Australia just three days after the Premier League season ends.

The fixture is set to be played at the MCG in Melbourne.

Tottenham head coach Ange Postecoglou played and managed South Melbourne.

Both Spurs and Newcastle can play down under as they are out of the FA Cup and neither will be in the final.

  17. Your views on Fulham v Tottenhampublished at 12:00 18 March

    your views graphic

We asked for your thoughts on Saturday's Premier League game between Fulham and Tottenham.

Here are some of your responses:

    Fulham fans

Simon: I think most fans would agree that this was one of our most complete performances. We moved the ball with such speed and counter-attacked with such intensity and dynamism that Spurs couldn’t live with. Who knew that losing the cumbersome, but effective, Mitrovic would allow us to play this beautiful and breathtaking football?

Jools: What a fantastic game and a wonderful performance. After a fairly even first half, we blew them away in the second. Palhinha was unlucky to not cap off a fine match with a fourth. Muniz continues to amaze me with how good he has become. It's clear that Marco Silva knows more than me when it comes to players!

David: This time the chances were taken, unlike last time against Wolves. It could've easily have been 6-0. Robinson was very impressive, after some average games. I'm surprised by how poorly Spurs performed, though.

Will: Last year we couldn’t buy a result against the top-six teams, now we have got three results with more to come. Spurs played like they had already been relegated, let alone needing a win for top four. I can't not mention Muniz, he really is something incredibly special.

    Spurs fans

Jeff: There's still something wrong with this Spurs team. They fail to turn up far too often, as they did under previous managers, and then we get the inevitable apologies for "unacceptable" performances from the likes of Son. Sadly I think Postecoglou is another emperor with little in the way of clothing. We will be fortunate to hang on to that fifth spot.

Paul: The defence is not well organised, there is no general at the back. We are always going to have to score two goals to win a game - it's not going to happen. We badly need a top-class striker because too many "should be a goal" chances are being missed.

Doug: I’ve not seen a performance this poor since before Ange arrived. Our worst performance of the season by far. It was a totally unacceptable performance - no passion, poor attitude, no teamwork. I could go on about all of the things lacking in this performance. With the squad almost fully available, we should not be dropping any points in a game like this.

William: It seems to be the story of Spurs' season so far: a strong performance at Villa, followed by a dismal showing at Fulham. Every single player performed well below their best and made a mockery of the impressive effort at Villa. It feels like a big opportunity missed for Spurs. With Van de Ven out, it’s back to the drawing board for Postecoglou.

  18. Fulham had done their due diligence - Bassongpublished at 08:00 18 March

Tottenham manager Ange PostecoglouImage source, Getty Images

Former Tottenham defender Sebastien Bassong says Ange Postecoglou's side were just having "one of those days" when they came up against Fulham, who knocked three goals past his old club.

"It's one of those days where they just weren't in the game from the first minute," Bassong told BBC Radio 5 Live's Football Daily.

"They had a spell in the game because Tottenham are a possession-based team. They got the ball but they just looked miles off what they usually do. Fulham had done their due diligence, they made it hard for Spurs

"When things don't connect, it's just one of them days. Fulham had a couple of chances, they had been so efficient. Spurs had been conceding goals so easily that you knew it was going to be a long day for them."

Former Chelsea defender Mario Melchiot also joined the discussion around Spurs' performance: "I saw a different kind of style from Spurs. What I've been seeing from them lately, what Postecoglou has built in the team, is the way they play their high-line, how they press people, how they take control, and having [James] Maddison back in the team.

"But they [Fulham] were always trying to minimise him [Maddison]. I remember there was a moment in the game where he did a step over and they clipped him, because they've got to stop the momentum. They had to stop him.

"When Maddison gets on going, even at Leicester City, he is the guy that creates the momentum for the team."
