The best complete book for the benchrest shooter or precision reloading.

This is the 4th or 5th book I have, dealing with modern benchrest shooting. If this book were to be given an "A," the second-best would get a "C." Shooters have been quoting from this work since it came on the market, and it is clear why. It's success is not entirely due to the credentials of Tony Boyer, who is far and away the most successful benchrest shooter of our time. It is worth noting that editing, artwork and production exhibited in my hard-cover version are far above average. That said, there are some minor problems the proofreading missed (for example, jewelers' "loop") and a there is mistake in one of the computer-generated renderings. None of the problems take away from the value of the work.
The book is not offered as a scientific treatise, and the focus is on "know how" rather than "know why," which is what the readers would want and need. There is only enough science to illustrate and communicate various points. Controversial topics are dealt with in a refreshing way. The author restates the conventional reasoning, states that it is only the conventional reasoning, resists entering into the debate and simply states whether he himself uses the devices or techniques.
There are a few paragraphs in the section dealing with match shooting technique that alone are worth the cost of the book. Happily, one finds very few "war stories" of the type often seen in the final chapters of similar books.

I have many books about rifles and pistols and I think this one is the best. It is written by Tony Boyer - a famous benchrest shooter. He knows the subject very well and it shows in his book.
The book is written very clearly. There are plenty of color illustrations. The action, stock, triggers, scopes, barrels are covered in detail. There is a lot of information on reloading and shooting.
I like the practical advices coming from a guy who actually did what he suggests for others. I think everybody who likes accurate shooting should own this book. You will not regret your choice.

This book is titled "Rifle Accuracy," and that is what it's about, but any buyer should know that its focus is squarely on benchrest shooting. That's exactly what I wanted, and Mr. Boyer's book proved to be, by a huge margin, the best treatment of this fine art that I've ever found. I've read it once, and I plan to go through it several more times. It's such an outstandingly authoritative treatise on benchrest shooting, that much of it deserves to memorized (in a paraphrased manner, of course; it's not scripture, after all).

Great book for learning methods that enable excellence in shooting sports. It is a great read for all levels of shooters. I’m buying one for every new shooter I am helping to mentor.

Every person interested in rifle shooting should read this book.

Great book by the holy grail of bench rest shooting. Cant argue with the all time high point hall of fame shooter. That said: I still believe Precision Shootings reloading guide still has as much or more things to offer with just as many valuable insights no where else to be found. Update: sorry to say the Precision shooting reloading guide is out of print as is Harold Vaughn's Guide to precision shooting. Harold died several years ago and his book is his legacy to the sport. If you can find used copies of either, buy them immediately if your goal is to become the best of the best.
