POUGHKEEPSIE — Thomas H. Hogan, Jr., 83, a resident of Poughkeepsie, N.Y., since 1950, died peacefully Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2012, at Vassar Brothers Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Glens Falls, N.Y., on Aug. 7, 1928, he was the son of Thomas H. and Florence Smith Hogan.
He was a graduate of St. Mary’s Academy, Glens Falls and Skidmore College, Saratoga Springs, N.Y.
Tom moved to Poughkeepsie from Glens Falls to be the manager of the Bardavon Theater in 1950, then went to work at IBM in 1952. He retired in 1987.
On July 9, 1949, he married Margaret O’Hearne Hogan at St. Mary’s Church in Glens Falls, N.Y. She predeceased him in 1987.
He is survived by his three children, Kathleen and her husband, John F. Doherty, of Poughkeepsie, Mary Ann Hogan of Poughkeepsie, Thomas H. Hogan III and his wife, Kim, of Pleasant Valley. He is also survived by four grandchildren: Matthew J. and his wife, Jessica Doherty, Poughkeepsie, Kathleen Margaret Doherty, Brooklyn, Maggie (Hogan) Bahr and her husband, Benjamin of Munich, Germany, Emma Hogan, Pleasant Valley; and three great grandchildren: Jade, Madeleine and Abiageal.
He is also survived by his brother, the Rev. Michael J. Hogan, Albany and Tom’s beloved longtime companion of 22 years, Shirley Walker, along with several nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.
In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by his brother, John Hogan and twin sons, Michael Joseph and Matthew John Hogan.
