How to get the Dragon’s Gaze item in Dragon’s Dogma 2

The Dragon’s Gaze can be activated to display the nearest Wakestone Shards in Dragon’s Dogma 2. Three of these shards can be combined to form a Wakestone, which can be used to revive teammates or dead NPCs. It’s an incredible tool to have and there are four ways of getting the Dragon’s Gaze in DD2:

  • Return to Brant after finishing The Nameless Village quest.
  • Find a black chest at the top of Vernworth Castle on the 4F floor at the Vernworth Watchtower.
  • The upper floor of the Pilgrim’s Inn – Flagship in Bakbattahl.
  • A chest in a building to the west of the Bay Wayside Shrine in northeastern Battahl. There’s a campfire near this locked building.

Getting the Dragon’s Gaze from Brant

You can get The Nameless Village quest from Brant at the tavern in Vernworth. Head east from Vernworth and reach The Nameless Village (marked on your map). You’ll be able to finish the quest after visiting The Nameless Village Depths via a ladder behind the Old Noble Manor. You’ll have to go through an obstacle course where timing is essential. Finish this, open some chests, and you’ll eventually meet Srail. Return to Brant with the ‘Bill of Arrest for Darraugh’ item from Srail and he’ll reward you with a tidy sum of gold in addition to the Dragon’s Gaze.

Finding the Dragon’s Gaze in Vernworth Castle

Don’t worry, you can freely access Vernworth Castle during the day. Keep climbing and jump past destroyed portions of stairs to reach the top. The Mage’s Levitate ability is particularly helpful here. Head to 4F and you’ll find a black chest with the Dragon’s Gaze.

Dragon’s Gaze from the Pilgrim’s Inn – Flagship

While entering Battahl in Dragon’s Dogma 2 is tricky, it’s necessary to progress in the story. And once you get to the capital city of Bakbattahl, it’s only a matter of time before you get to the Pilgrim’s Inn – Flagship. The upper floor holds a Dragon’s Gaze.

Get the final Dragon’s Gaze near the Bay Wayside Shrine

There’s a locked building to the west of the Bay Wayside Shrine. Enter and you’ll be able to get a Dragon’s Gaze. Since you only need one of these to use its ability, feel free to ignore them unless you want to sell them for 5000 Gold.

How to use Dragon’s Gaze in Dragon’s Dogma 2

Select the Dragon’s Gaze in your inventory and select ‘Use.’ It appears to have an infinite number of charges so don’t worry about exhausting it. This will then mark the location of Wakestone shards nearest to your Arisen on your map. Remember that this won’t tell you whether they’re underground or on a cliff. Some portions are inaccessible due to story reasons too. Since this is randomized, don’t expect them to stay there forever.

Dragon’s Gaze works in a small radius

Don’t expect it to reveal every single Wakestone shard on the map.

That covers how to get and use Dragon’s Gaze in the game. It’s a handy tool that will let you get a couple of spare revives. Wakestones are great for healing dead NPCs who are vital to a quest. For instance, I visited Melve to deliver a letter, only to find an infected dragon assaulting its inhabitants. Had it killed the person I was supposed to meet, a Wakestone would have let me revive him. They work on the Arisen and your pawns as well. An Eternal Wakestone in Dragon’s Dogma 2 can perform this as well.
