Tropicana Atlantic City garners a mixed bag of feedback. A number of guests have called out issues with room cleanliness, outdated decor, and maintenance, which has detracted from their comfort. The hotel's atmosphere is polarizing, with some finding the rooms spacious but others criticizing an uninviting ambiance. Service at the hotel often disappoints due to long waits and disorganization. While the location near certain attractions is a plus for some, others are put off by its position on the boardwalk and safety concerns at night. Additionally, the value proposition is marred by unexpected fees and questionable upgrades. Despite some praise for amenities, the overall sentiment is dampened by service inconsistencies and dated features.

These rooms are fine. Nothing special, except for the bathroom which is nice. I don't know if I really like the shower head mounted in the ceiling and pointed straight down, but that might be more of a personal preference or what you are used to. The walk in shower has no door, but it works. I had a corner room, with a view of the the outdoor poll that you see when walking to the Chelsea Tower and the other view was of the city (west). This tower only has ice machines on the 6th and 12th floors, which is fine because there are not many rooms on one floor and the stairs were easy enough to use for one floor to get to the machines. The Chelsea Tower is as far away from the Havana Tower garage as you can get and still be in the Tropicana, which is an inconvenience (as in it takes 4 elevator rides to get in between the two). It's not obvious, or marked, but you do need to use the South Tower elevators to avoid using two escalators. Access to the beach and boardwalk is great from the Chelsea Tower, although the South Tower does offer better access. The main issue here is that once in the Chelsea Tower lobby you can exit, but not return, and there are no ramps (was 2-3 steps). If you have someone that can go to the lobby of the Chelsea Tower and let you in, that would be ideal, otherwise you will need to go to the South Tower entrance and get on the elevator to take you to the Chelsea Tower walkway. The other thing about the Chelsea Tower is that you used to be able to check in there, but you can not any more, and there are no kiosks there either.

I did use the kiosks to check in and check out. To expedite things have your reservation confirmation number handy, and on check out have that and your room number handy. I would use there kiosks again, as there line for them is minimal. Note that there are were attendants at the Havana Tower check in area, and my phone mobile data wasn't working in the main lobby check in area. I'd advise using the kiosks in the main lobby area, in case the machine eats your driver's license and you need an attendant to open the machine to retrieve it (I saw that happen).

The parking voucher that you get while checking in only covers $5 towards parking, so I still had to pay another $5 on my way out. Previously at Caesars properties all they ever asked for was just the parking voucher. This was for self parking at the Havana Tower Garage.

I will be back, and would stay in the Chelsea Tower again. I would prefer if there were some self parking in both parking garages, like there used to be.

Mask is a must everywhere. Indoor pool requires reservations.

There is hand sanitizer access everywhere.

To check in after exiting garage area is to use the machine.

I tried two restaurants they weren’t the cleanest. The food was good. But one restaurant we left with our feet sticky. I was also with the kids so I didn’t pick the restaurants in the quarter area, we went down to the marketplace.

The family area with arcade was fun for the kids. There is a escape room as well but we didn’t go there.

The room was good but it did not have any draws for us, it was a three night stay.

For safety they were cleaning a lot around the areas that are highly touched. The elevators were ridden only by your party, which made the lines long. There are temperatures checks at various points when you newly enter the building.

The room was only cleaned once during my three night stay.

The staff is friendly and helpful at all time.

This is a very large hotel/casino/resort located near one end of the AC boardwalk. There is a large casino, many shops, restaurants and bars. There are multiple towers (North, South, West, Havana and Chelsea). The resort is self-contained and a guest does not need to leave the facility during their entire visit. Access to the beach is a short walk. The rooms and parts of the facility have been renovated over the years but still showing signs of age, especially the parking garages. The original resort is 40+ years old. I stayed in the West Tower which is ~25 years old. The room was large, clean and quiet. The beds were large and comfortable. The bathroom was large, well appointed although the shower was hot but weak. The room had a safe, iron, small refrigerator and coffee maker but lacked a microwave. Hotel service when called was responsive. My main complaint was that signage throughout the large multi-level facility was inadequate and it was difficult to find your way around the large, sprawling resort. Even the hotel lobby was difficult to find from the parking garage. I would suggest NOT using the check-in kiosks but rather registering at the lobby to be sure you were assigned the room you selected and billing is correct.

Me and a group of girlfriends recently stayed here for a girls trip on a Saturday night. We paid close to $385 dollars for each room and obtained 2 rooms. This by far was the worse hotel experience I have ever had and my husband and I frequent AC all the time.

First and foremost, Covid to this hotel is a joke. They are not taking ANY safety precautions for their guests nor or they creating a safe hotel experience. Not one time did I see someone wipe down a slot , elevator, escalator, table, nothing!!

They need to shut the West Tower down completely. These rooms are so run down, old and nasty. I don't even know how they can justify charging 20 dollars let alone 385 dollars for these rooms. It's a complete rip off! They also check all of their African American guests in this tower....

When we checked in (which was around 6 pm) after spending the afternoon at the beach, we were given our hotel room key and proceeded to the room.

After being at the beach all day, the first thing we wanted to do is take a shower. The bathtub and shower was so incredibly dirty and disgusting (see pics below) that we were appalled. Almost as if housekeeping had not done anything at all to clean this. We called and requested a new room. The front desk said they were sold out and could give us a food credit. We demanded to speak to a manager and after one hour finally got someone to connect with us. He then was able to upgrade one of the rooms to a suite (same tower) and have housecleaning come in and reclean the other room. He kept saying they were sold out yet they were still selling rooms on 3rd party sites for 500 bucks! The suite we got was even more outdated then the first room(dirty carpet, bad furniture, loud shower screeching sound) but at this point it was 9:30 and we were tired and just wanted to eat and go to bed.

We then proceeded to demand a refund thru the manager with the 3rd party hotel booking agency. I credit this to my girlfriend who works in the travel agency and immediately knew what to say and who to contact. We did receive the full amount for both rooms but i will never ever go back to this hotel again.

In terms of their food experience, they have 10+ restaurants and finding a place to eat outside is a joke. Be prepared for long lines, no reservations and expensive prices. We had to settle for a slice of pizza for dinner.

You can't have any alcohol in cups and basically will get yelled at by security. We stood in line for 45 minutes to get a drink from Fat Tuesday but had to drink it on the boardwalk. The experience was awful. If we do plan on going back, I am going to go to another hotel that takes covid more seriously.

One finally note... we tried to go to a beach bar to at least listen to music, sit outside, etc. most outside places like this are charging a $40 - $50 dollar cover charge just to get in! It's awful how they are trying to make as much money as possible in the middle of a pandemic.

My wife and I love traveling to places “off-season”, so Atlantic City in February mid-week is our cup of tea. You get great hotels at rock bottom prices and nothing is crowded (most things in the Boardwalk aren’t open, but we are there for the relaxation not the tourism. We’ve stayed at the Hard Rock, Resorts, Caesar’s, etc but the Tropicana is probably our new favorite. First of all our room was outstanding! We got a king suite in the Havana Tower (which has apparently been newly renovated) for only $99/night. The room is huge, has a king bedroom, separate living room with doors to close off the bedroom and 2 bathrooms. The room was clean, bed and pillows comfortable, and a tv in each room. Even being newly renovated it’s not perfect (chips in some furniture, loose or cracked USB ports and wall outlets) but I’m not one to nitpick, only observe.
All of the restaurants and entertainment venues are centrally located in two different areas and are easy to get to. Food and service were great and prices reasonable.
We did not visit the pool or spa so I cannot comment on those, but being located in the Chelsea tower and out of the way from standard traffic makes me think they are better than standard hotel pools.
I’ve seen negative reviews of the North and South Towers and cannot comment on those as I did not stay or visit rooms in either of those.
But everything that I did see and experience was quite good and I will not hesitate to stay here again.

No valet parking they say due to covid the other casino hotels have valet parking. Went to the hotel room floors sticky, called the front desk and they had someone to come up to mop the floors after a long wait, no change in the floor condition. i almost fell due to the sticky floor my body went but my feet was stuck to the floor. The room is old and is not made for you to stay in the room at all. No dresser , one luggage rack that can barely hold one suitcase not meant for two people. The bathroom has a sink and no shelving so the towels, wash cloth, and their products are all on the sink. You have no place for your toothbrush, brush and comb toothpaste and anything else you normally put on a sink. last but not least the toilet was running there was no need in calling the front desk, i was just glad that i could at least fix that myself. This hotel should be banned for taking people money and you get zero accommodation.

Wanted to stay in the South Tower, as this is where we stayed before, but rooms were $30.00 per night more than the same room in the North Tower. ( Two queens non-smoking ) Maybe they charge more because they have to bring in more staff to clean, etc and they try to encourage everyone to book the North Tower so they can close the other Tower, but I don't know? Anyway, there was no full-length mirror in the room, matresse's were hard as stone and the pillows were hard as well. Very uncomfortable. The bathroom sink was actually located in the bedroom section of the room. The toilet and shower were in the actual bathroom, so to wash your hands after using the toilet you had to go into the other room. Strange set-up. Had an offer for a " free " gift. To redeem this offer you used to swipe your players club card at the kiosk and print out a coupon that you would redeem for the gift. Now when you swipe your card it says you have to earn 100 same day points to " Qualify for the gift " At $20.00 play in to earn 1 point on video poker machines that's $2,000.00 ! Also only 1 restaurant open. I'll never be back again. No wonder the place was like a masoleum.

We got some midweek comps at the Tropicana so I booked it
I asked for non smoking 2 double beds. I had never before stayed in that tower and I believe it is where they send all the guests that they don't want to ever come back. First impression of the tiny room was it looks like a dorm room. Very cheaply slappd together. Cheap laminate floors, tacky furniture and drapes that don't close to keep morning sun out. The phone in the room was broken. The cheap low end bath tub and walls had mystery stains. The shower made an odd screeching sound, very loud and the water took a long time to reach the shower for some reason. I understand they are short staffed so no maid service. Getting towels is challenging. The window washing gear outside is left dangling outside by the window it swayed in the wind and constantly banged very loudly making sleep difficult. All in all I would say stay away from this tower. I have previously stayed in other towers that were less shabby and quieter. We waited an hour and 15 minutes to get an elevator to o down stairs after waiting an hour for valet to take our bags down to the car. Orally I don't comain about comped rooms ut this room fell far short of expectations.

This was our first stay at the Tropicana after getting a decent rate for a Friday night compared to other properties nearby. We had heard good things from others so we decided to forgo our normal Hard Rock or Oceans room to try Tropicana. Biggest mistake ever.

Upon arriving, we had to walk what felt like a mile to get to the check in desk from the self parking garage ($10 fee btw). Then we were sent to the Chelsea tower which required even more walking plus two elevators. Upon stepping off the elevator it smelled of mold. The first room smelled of mold so bad that we couldn't breathe and there were stains everywhere. After trying to call the front desk from a phone with no labels on the extensions. We had to trek another mile back to the lobby for new keys.

The second room (still in the Chelsea tower) had no smell but was not cleaned. There was blood splattered on the curtains, smeared stains on the headboard, thick dust & white particles all over the rug as if it hadn't be vacuumed in months (or ever). Again, called the front desk from a phone with no labeled extensions and asked if we could be refunded so we can stay at another hotel. They weren't able to refund us...

At that point they offered to move us to the west tower. The room was plain, smelled like smoke, worn down, had no thermostat for the temperature so it was freezing all night but cleaner than the previous two rooms. We still didn't feel comfortable taking our shoes off.

We paid $20 to check in early only to spend that time running back & forth switching rooms. I felt ripped off. We only paid $80 for the room and honestly, it was $50 too much. We've stayed in other hotels post covid that have been spotless plus enhanced protocols for cleaning. None of that was the case here. No markers for social distancing, temp checks, or limiting # of guest on elevators.

I would gladly pay 2x or 3x the price to stay somewhere else in the future.

We’ve stayed at the Tropicana at least five times in the past, but not since 2019. All of our other stays there were wonderful. We went to Atlantic City this past weekend to see the John Fogerty concert at Caesar’s but stayed at the Tropicana because we always had positive experiences there. Well, it is no longer a place that we would ever go back to. The first problem is that they have only a few people working the desk to check people in. The wait to check in is more than an hour. They do have kiosks for checking in but those can not be used for third party bookings and they do not recognize some states driver’s licenses as ID’s. After spending all of that time to get a room we open the door to our room, and our “non-smoking “ room stinks of cigarettes. A call to the desk and they say the only way to change the room is to go back to the lobby and wait on the hour long line again! By the way since there are several towers but only one lobby for check in we had to drag our luggage all the way back to the only location for check in. Are you kidding me. Well, fortunately we went back to the desk and somehow found a manager. The manager first said there are no other rooms and that the maintenance men would spray deodorizer in the room. When we argued that would not be acceptable she said they had a room for $100 more per night. When we again said that we shouldn’t have to pay more because our non smoking room reeked of smoke, she “found” a room for only $40 dollars more. Then she said she could give us a $40 meal voucher to offset the increase which would be good at any restaurant on the property. The new room in the Havana tower was OK at best. The bathroom actually had paint peeling off the ceiling! But, otherwise it was not too bad. We went to have dinner at PF Changs - which is right in the Tropicana and found that they would not accept the credit we were given for the room switch! The self parking garage is dirty and a bit scary. Even the elevator doors in the hotel are filthy and look like they have not been cleaned in years! So, as you can see there is nothing good about staying at this hotel. What a difference a few years make. I made the mistake of not believing all of the other bad reviews for this place based on our prior stays there. But, it was the worst hotel experience we’ve ever had and we’ve traveled a lot all over the country. The workers know that customers are being treated very badly because when people complain they just stand there because there is nothing they can do about it. All I can say is don’t make the mistake we did and find somewhere else to stay. Save yourself a lot of time and aggravation.
