Great little find! The place has a 1950's diner feel and some of the items on the menu were unique. Had the "Big Salad" and it had way too much meat and iceberg lettuce in it but husband had a delicious burger. The shakes and...chili cheese fries looked good too! It's a quaint little place and the prices are reasonable. Don't think they offer dinner though, only breakfast and lunch.More

For the price the food was really good and just enough to make you full. Our server Jocelyn really made you feel welcome. Service is great and the wait time for the food was minimal. Definitely a great place to be for a awesome power...breakfast!More

This little diner was great. Have ate here 2 days in a row. Tomorrow will be 3 . First morning had the huevos rancheros and it was excellent. This morning had the chicken fried steak another great breakfast. The wait staff was great. Nothing fancy...just really good food.More

My friend and I were visiting this restaurant for the first time. 2 of the waitresses were greeting friends that had come in at a table 2 away from us in such loud voices that we could not talk to each other. As one of...the waitresses went by I mentioned that it was a bit loud. She took offense and it went down hill from there. The other waitress came over and asked it everything was OK (with an attitude). When my friend said NO, she then proceeded to lecture us on this being a restaurant not a church and folks could be as loud as they want. Where is the courtesy there. When we left I mentioned to the check out girl that it had been a most unpleasant experience. She said then we shouldn't tell people to shut up. Whoa!! Asking if they could be a bit quieter is not telling them to shut up We will never go back to this restaurant.More

My neighbor texts me about breakfast. My wife said I just cleaned the kitchen, you're not making breakfast for you and Eric in my kitchen. Rats! We decided on a local greasy spoon called Avalon in Sugarland. I noticed on the menu chicken fried steak...omelette! I asked Claudia about it. She said "yes sir that's chicken fried steak inside an omelette covered with gravy served with biscuits, hash browns." "I said omg that's crazy talk!" Our server said "I know and very delicious!" Ok my life according to my doctor went from six weeks of living to four weeks, wait three weeks! If you have a fews weeks to live, I highly recommend you try the chicken fried steak omelette before you go. Stay hungry amigo! El Gordo.More

My wife and I have been here often for breakfast. It's hardy and not that expensive. The food tasted great and the service is the best.

Great place for breakfast. Plenty to choose from on the menu. We went for the mega meat omelette special and the chicken fried steak. Both were tasty and well cooked. Staff were very friendly and service was good. Cost was pretty cheap too.

Went with my family and brother. It took over 20 minutes to take our order and a good 20 minutes to get served! The waiter never came back to ask how things were, or to refresh our coffee. I finally had to track him down...and ask for the check, which he never brought! Went to the front host stand to complain and pay our bill. The young lady was rude, and didn’t care to hear about the poor service and average food. We will never return!! What a wast of my time and money!!!More

Expecting a good experience but... The exterior is somewhat shabby (frayed awning and weather-beaten front doors). Then a strange smell once we got inside. Then one of our hamburger patties was WAY undercooked. At least the onion rings were good, and service was attentive. I...doubt we will return.More

Nothing but classic diner dishes done right at the right price. There are several locations which to us the one off of the Katy Freeway is the best one. The parking lot isnt all that great because the people cant drive and someone decided to...allow Starbucks to place their drive through lane by the front door.... But hey it Texas....More

My husband and I took his parents out for Sunday breakfast. They had never been before. There was a wide variety of items to choose from for breakfast, and we each chose something different. My motherinlaw had huevos ranchero, my fatherinlaw had a sausage omelette,...my husband had eggs with jalapeños, chorizo and other ingredients, while I had scrambled eggs with chorizo in a wholewheat tortilla and grits. Everyone enjoyed their meal, and the server was very kind and courteous. This restaurant originated in 1938, and is still serving great food. I recommend it to everyone!More

If you are looking for a traditional American diner, this is where to come. Excellent for breakfast, with the usual range of eggs, bacon, sausage and grits on offer. Staff are very friendly and also get to know you if you return!

It doesn't really look like a diner, but looks can be deceiving. This place had blue plate specials (served on plastic, sectioned into 3 parts, blue plates). My husband ordered Monday's special, tilapia, and said it was very good. I dove into the breakfasts and...had a 2 egg scramble with cheddar cheese and chives. My son had eggs and corned beef hash. We all agreed that if we had discovered the Avalon earlier in our trip, we would have eaten here more. I'd love to try the sandwiches.More
