"I meet Roy on New Years 2003/2004 on my way back to Afghanistan. We were both stuck in Germany coming back from Mid tour R&R and when he told his story, he spoke of his kids & Wife with great vigor. Roy Was a Great American for his service and for his sacrifice. Please know that his commitment was a driving force for me on my first deployment. I will always remember him and carry his name on my heart because what he represented was the pride and courage of America!!! Thank You Wood Family for Roy and Your Sacrifice it was not in Vain."

"Thank all of you who have taken the time to leave messages about my special brother! I know there are many like him who are patriots and believe in what we're doing. It has almost been five years since Roy has been gone. As Roy Wood's sister, I know that a Sgt. Green was mentioned at the service in Afghan for my brother bv the Chaplain. I have no other information about him. If Sgt. Green ever looks at this website, I would like to thank him from my heart for whatever he did for Roy and our family and would love to talk with him and thank him personally. My prayers are with you and God bless you -- I KNOW Roy appreciates you!"

"Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free.
I'm following the path God laid for me.
I took his hand when I heard Him call.
I turned my back and left it all.
I could not stay that day,
to laugh, to love, to work or play.
Task undone must stay that way.
I found peace at the close of the day.
If my parting left a void,
then fill it with remembered joy.
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss
Ah, these things I too will miss.
Be not burdened with time of sorrow.
I wish for you the sunshine of tomorrow.
My life's been full, I savored much
Good friends, good times, a loved one touched.
Perhaps my time seemed all to brief,
but don't lengthen it now with undue grief.
Lift up your hearts and share with me.
God wanted me now, He set me free!"
