Claude served as a Sergeant on a B-24H (#42-94969), 8th Air Force, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

He resided in Madison County, Alabama prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army on April 15, 1943 at Fort McClellan, Alabama. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed as a Sales clerk and also as Married.

Claude was "Killed In Action" in the collision of his B-24 with B-24J (#42-99949) during a bombing mission to Koblenz, Germany. They collided and crashed in Ingelmunster, Belgium. He was awarded the Air Medal and a Purple Heart.

He was originally interred overseas and was later repatriated here on August 27, 1949.
