I went a couple of years ago when it was ScreamTime Zipline and just went back last week for our July 4th vacation since they have changed ownership and changed the name to Screaming Ziplines. I must say that I was VERY impressed with the changeover. Don't get me wrong, I had a good time when I went the first time, but now that they have changed ownership I think things are quite a bit better. The previous owner was just a little bit over the top.. He made a lot of strange comments that kind of made us feel slightly uncomfortable at times. The new lady, Darcey, is awesome! She's super polite and well put together. The new Screaming Ziplines is a way better deal than Scream Time. They lowered their prices from $89 for the six line tour or $118 for the eight line tour to $85 and $95, respectively. Our guides, Chris and Dalton, were so great! They made us feel so welcome and SO comfortable! We had my 7 year old daughter with us and she was a little afraid to go on the first line. Chris was so helpful in talking her into going, it made her (and my wife and I) feel very good about the whole situation. I've read some poor reviews on here about this place, but I just want to point out to people that this is NOT the same company that people wrote about. I think the last review I saw on here was from the fall of 2011 and, I don't know what happened with the last reviewer, but I can't imagine that it's even describing the same place.. That review said the company was under new management, but this place is now under new OWNERSHIP. The new company, EBL, actually owns and operates about a dozen ziplines across the country, from what I've read online. And, IT SHOWS!!! Our scheduling and tour setup was great, there was no waiting and no confusion. The guides were very friendly and very thorough. I have been to a couple of other ziplines over the past few years and I must say that these guys are the best I've come across so far. The mountain setting is just amazing, the service was impeccable and the price is pretty darn good for what you get. My family and I had an amazing time and we are DEFINITELY looking forward to going back again in the fall. Don't let the old reviews give you a bad impression of this place. With the new ownership, Screaming Ziplines met every expectation we had, and then some! I would definitely recommend a trip to check them out, we had an Awesome time!

"You should try it. It is very, very fun. Chris zip lined with me on all 6 zip lines. It was so fun and fast that I couldn't believe it was happening. I felt very safe and comfortable with Chris when he went with me. And I liked the way Becky made me stop slower instead of hitting the rope in to me. And Brian and John helped me stop slow and safely also. Just try it some day, it will be so fun."
By: RJ, age 6

On Wednesday evening I called Chris to inquire about our small kids zip lining. After speaking with all the places in the high country I decided Scream Time was the place to go. In addition to having the shortest course available they also are the only place that do assisted braking and seemed very knowledgeable. He promptly called me back to confirm our appointment for the following morning. Thursday morning on the way out there he called to tell me it was drizzling. They would still happily take us, but he knew we were bringing kids and wanted to double check. How thoughtful!
It was a little hard to find, and as we pulled up the road we briefly questioned if we were in the correct place. They drove a Polaris (4wheel drive golf cart) down to pick us up. I was initially a little surprised at how young the guide who met us was. My friend, her 5, 4 & 2 year old kids, myself, and my 6 & 2 year old all headed up. We decided, based on weather, to come back in the afternoon. They said they would fit us in any time at all.
The plan was for my friend (who is terrified of heights) her 5 year old and my 6 year old to go. My friend and her son were going tandem. My daughter was undecided if she wanted to go alone. When I say there is no possible way to overstate the amount of nerves and safety anxiety we had, it is not an exaggeration. Becky, John and Brian were nothing short of AMAZING! They explained every piece of equipment and how it worked. They answered questions about how the course was installed and by whom. They were knowledgeable about how often and thoroughly equipment is checked, as well when and who inspected and certified the course. Then, they answered all the questions again. At least two of them checked each person to make sure they were harnessed correctly. If they were irritated or thought we were crazy, it never crossed any of their faces a single time.
When it was time to go up to the top of the course I thought my friend was going to pass out riding the Polaris up the steep, wet gravel road. Brian was great with her. He drove extra cautiously to appease her.
We walked down the short bit to the top of the course. Although it was a steep walk down the 4, 2 & 2 year olds with me did fine. Watch out for cow patties though!
When we got to the first line Chris, Becky, John and Brian again explained all the safety equipment to us. They gave easy, clear instructions for how to ride and be safe. John went across first to brake the riders. My daughter decided she did not want to go alone. Chris hooked in with her, someone else double checked them, he reassured her, gave a big grin and took off. She loved it! I could hear her giggles echoing through the valley!! When my girlfriend was up Becky and John triple checked them, re-explained the procedure and helped her find the most comfortable way for her son to go tandem.
I watched them do the first two lines, then Brian drove us down to watch them come in on the fourth one. After that we were driven to the bottom to watch their long run to the end. My daughter's first words upon stopping were to ask if we could come back again next week. It was an awesome experience!

I wasn't going to go, I was just arranging trip for family. Darlene said I should go, will be so much fun. Well, I am so glad I went. The staff was so professional, safe but fun at the same time. Looked like top of the line equipment to me. Very smooth stops, at the end of the line, which the staff controlled. It took me a while to go on the first line but after the second line I was a pro. Recommend the full package for a beginner, pro may want to just do the screaming zipline.

The company is under new management now, which is rude, engaging in unsafe practices, and generally making the experience a waste of time and money. I had scheduled a trip for several friends, all of whom were driving from 3-4 hrs away with the previous owners, but the new owners didn't even bother to keep the reservations...but they did keep my credit card number. We arrived to find that we didn't have a spot a the time promised. They made us wait for 4 hours before "working us in" despite the fact I had made reservations a month prior. They didn't apologize...instead they acted as if they were doing us a favor. We had purchased groupons for the trip, but after we arrived, they also said that they would not honor the groupon price...we had to pay the difference. If we didn't agree to pay the extra, we would have just lost the money we spent on the groupon in addition to the time/expense of traveling there. Once it was finally our turn to begin the tour, we had a very short safety lecture, then were tossed harnesses to put on, with practically no instruction. One of our friends had the harness on incorrectly, but the crew member waved her on to the tower. One of the guys in our group was a climber, who luckily recognized the problem and helped her fix the harness before she was on the zipline. Everything was very poorly maintained and they rushed us through the tour in about 30 min. I was expecting a LOT more for almost $100. Please don't waste your money at this place. There are MANY professionally run zip line companies in the area which provide a much better and safer experience.

Dear Trip Advisor Reviewers, Please note that I am the new owner of this course. The previous management is gone! New business name, entity, insurance, website, the works! Under our new watch, we have made improvements to the course with replacement ziplines, new equipment, a new website, retrained and certified all the staff for safer practices, and did our best to honor the former company's Groupon special. We were not able to honor them for full value as the previous owner received those funds, not us. Anyone with a Groupon has the refund policy offered them via Groupon and can get a complete, 100% refund! I don't want to be defend our new ownership based on the actions of the previous owner. As with any business that changes hands, there is going to be some fallout. Missed reservations is one of those items. As we are the new owners, the previous owner certainly didn't make the transition easy. In fact, previous reservations were not provided us so there was no way for us to know who was coming or when. We did our absolute best to accommodate all requests. All we ask is for your understanding. As the new owner, and operator of other tours across the US, we strive to provide quality experiences, worth the value of the adventure price. In late 2011 and heading into 2012, we have a revised price structure that is more in line with the value, time experience ratio. Selling points of this tour still include: Triple wide ziplines! Still some of the fastest and longest ziplines in the US Easy to get to and close to town Maintained course inspections by the US leader in tour installations AND operations, EBL Revamp website New online reservation system WITH confirmation letters Better price point You zipline over a MILE OF CABLE ...and still screams of joy and fun! Again, we ask for your understanding as we take over this business and hope that you will come out and enjoy this great, safe, adventure in the future. I made a reservation for ziplining. There was no confirmation information sent to me.There are several ziplining groups in the area and I couldn't figure out which zipline was theirs. The real name is Plum Tree Zip Line Canopy Tours VanceToe River Lodge. When I couldn't figure out where they were, I couldn't attend. They charge me the full $621.00! Beware of their business practices!

Having been an avid adventurer in the area for over 5 years, I could not wait when we heard rumor that a zip line company would be opening it's doors in our small mountain community. We have returned many times and my family always wants to go back! The guides there are some of the friendliest people that you can find. While the scheduled tours sometimes get off track, this is often due to late comers arriving late to their scheduled tour times. This in turn makes every tour after run a little behind. If these people do not know how to arrive at the proper location at the proper time, then they need to do a better job planning their time management. Screaming Zip Lines is an attraction that is hopefully here to stay and with good reason! The manager, Darcy, is one of the kindest people I have ever known in the outdoors industry. If ever in the area, be sure to give them a call! And a little advice? Request Zack, Chris, or Dalton to be your tour guides These fellas really know what they are doing.

By the way: I LOVE THE SUPER ZIP! it is totally worth the now-discounted price of the extra $10.

We had 8 people in our group. Great fun. Beautiful area. Long rides. People at each stop to help you hook up and stop at the next area. Well worth the trip if you have not been on a zipline. Blue Ridge mountains are well worth the trip also.

We had an incredible time. We were in Boone to visit our AppState student and went out. We had a great time, even the teen with a fear of heights. Screaming Ziplines has a very friendly and responsible staff (that my son decided he would love to join). I love the staff assisted stops. I had no worries. We will definitely plan on a return trip!

We had a great time!!! Weather was lovely and the staff was so very friendly. Felt like family...
Made the 3 plus hour trip worth it!! It was very well managed and we felt safe at ALL times, even enjoyed seeing the cows...hahaha :) They will answer any and all questions you may have so please ask, I did ask a lot. I would suggest to wear old shoes.. As far as finding the place.. When you make the turn at Skateworld, you will see a yellow house by the road right away with a drive way... That IS your turn!! go up and to the right :) We did our reservations online a few days ahead and printed out our confirmation page.
I really hated to see the day end there but look forward to going back with my husband :) Thanks again for making the day so much fun for us both!!

We made the reservation on the phone. We had a great time. They seemed really safe and helped make us feel secure. They drove us up to the top on an ATV and the views were really beautiful. We got to race each other but our favorite was the line that was 2000 feet! It was crazy fast with awesome views. It was so much fun! Can't wait to bring more people back to try it out.
