Q:
Does anyone have a picture of their birthing room they can share with me? With covid I don't want to do a hospital tour but I was wondering what the set up is for new moms.

How are the hospital rooms? Are they private rooms? Are they nice? New or older rooms? How are the nurse's and staff while in the hospital? Is their food edible? Thank you!

The hospital rooms are very nice and private. I was in the Tower which is brand new and modern. The nurses and staff are very nice and professional. They care about their patients. The food is fresh and healthy and yes edible😁‼️I can't say enough… more

I cannot speak to everyone's experience at Rush, but for the treatment that my brother received, it was excellent, from his bringing brought in through the emergency room to his stay there before being moved to Alden Rehab.
My brother suffered a stroke in 2023 while at work and was brought here. I am crediting Rush with preventing him from having long-term detrimental issues due to their quickness in treating him. From the state of his room to the care from the nurses, they took very good care of him. I was very surprised at the number of calls I received from various nurses to keep me abreast of his status. The social worker was also very instrumental in ensuring that he ended up in a rehab facility that would suit his needs and mine in terms of having to go to see him on a regular basis. For the most part, a lot of the heavy lifting was done by her, checking the insurance to getting him into the center. The follow up visits with the various doctors was also great. Appointments were on time and the doctors were very good at explaining my brother's status without talking down to us. At one point when he was released, his leg brace was left in the medical car. It was returned to the nurses' station on the floor where he was staying. I was able to call to make arrangements to pick it up. The nurse I spoke to told me to call her once I arrived and I did. The nurse actually came down to the park and brought it to me. I tried to give her a $20 as a tip to say thanks so much as I was fully expecting to have to go up and get it, but she refused and just said she hoped my brother was doing well.
This is the second time I have had a family member at Rush....the first time was my grandmother back in the 80s at their geriatric center and her treatment there was excellent...they got her up and out and able to come home to us. This time with my brother, he is alive and doing a lot better. I do not want to go to the hospital ever but would not mind if I was brought here.Helpful 18Thanks 3Love this 24Oh no 0 - 19384193Nov 9, 2023
The majority of the doctors I see are at Northwestern, but I came to rush for my gastric surgery. And I can honestly say that they have taken a very good care of me.
They have a new wing in the hospital; with all new rooms, equipment, machines, etc. The older parts of the hospital is slowly being updated, but still have great access to other resources, as well as other buildings connected to the hospital.
Back to my surgery, the nursing staff was wonderful, and I spoke with all the doctors I wanted (even those I didn't think I needed to speak to lol) and I was well informed prior, during and after my procedure.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Business owner information

Absolutely horrendous treatment of patients here. From talking with the nurses they said "certain people here have been waiting for 10 hours"... the billing department seemed to be untrained in every regard. My interaction with one of the staff was unbelievable. He couldn't help me because he was " training" another newcomer so they couldn't assist me. Why are there untrained staff in this hospital ????extremely alarming
I was sitting next to someone with liver failure and throwing up constantly. It seems that if you have a life threatening issue they try to verbally comfort you by saying that you will be seen based on priority. People are sleeping and offered blankets, and you constantly hear people moaning in pain.
Lack of staff seems to be a huge issue here. What's the point of having an ER if there seems to be like 1/2 doctors on the whole premise ? I came here for blood work to check for carbon monoxide poisoning ( a very fatal problem if it's in the severe zone). Don't get me wrong they drew my blood but asked me to wait in the lobby for the results. Guess what? The nurses told me that they can't help me and I've been waiting in the lobby for 4 + hours. I arrived at 10 pm and now it is 4 am.
Better off to go to another hospital. Protocol is all they care about and they disregard the needs of all their patients. If you have a whole day worth of time to spend sitting in the waiting room - go right ahead. Most of us can't afford to exert that much time and energy.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 2Business owner information

Poor service, disrespectful supporting staff that comes off passive aggressive to full blown aggression. There is a lot of drama from the patient representative.
Incompetent young woke Doctors that don't follow traditional medicine. Poor bedside manners for a hospital.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Merri F.Tinley Park, IL0127Aug 30, 2023
I had a hysterectomy at Rush Medical Center two years ago and had a wonderful experience. Dr. Amina Ahmed is one of a kind. She is a gynecological oncologist and took great care of me. The nursing staff was wonderful, attentive, etc. My experience overall has been very positive and I would absolutely recommend it to others.
I actually posted pics from my hospital stay (yes, I know it's not a hotel, but you really can't beat that view. Pics are not great but I took them from bed as best as I could.) :-)Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 1Business owner information

Aug 8, 2023Previous reviewThe administrative team in the Cardiology Department failed to send my medical records to my insurance company, rendering a denied claim by United Healthcare and me having me to reschedule my procedure twice. Then they had to APPEAL the decision in order to get this procedure approved. The never followed up with my appeal so I have to keep calling. Mind you, I am confident an angiogram is probably between $8k-$12k and with a stent, up to $35k.
If Rush is one of the highest rated Medical Centers in the country, I don't know if that is based on the amount of people who don't die, or what, but I can tell you this, the quality of communications is probably similar to that of the post office. The people are nice, but it's almost impossible to get a person online - without waiting for a very long time on hold. They do NOT offer a call back, which makes it very inconvenient for a patient who works during the day.
The larger a business becomes, the services usually suffer. Rush, like all healthcare facilities, is a business, and based on my experience with this business, I'm furious and beyond frustrated, and actually sad that I have to do all this, just to make sure I get treated so they get paid. The stress alone is almost not worth it. - Lauren S.Chicago, IL081Mar 29, 2024
This review is for Dr Mausumi N Syamal and not Rush as a whole. Rush has some of the finest doctors. I have always had great experiences until I needed the go to the ENT department. This was the worst experience I have ever had with a doctor in my entire life. I have been with Rush for many years and NEVER experienced the lack of compassion this doctor has. I am a patient that has had extensive surgery on her jaw and vocal cords. She performed an procedure in which she had to put a tube down my nose and down my throat with no anesthesia. I did not do well with this procedure and was not offered anesthesia. I had this same procedure with a doctor at UIC. He was fantastic and understood this was hard. Dr Syamal was abrasive and acted as if I were bothering her. The nurse was wonderful in the way she spoke to me, but this doctor was condescending. I told her as I was leaving that I had the most horrible experience and her response was to attack my character in My Chart. If you want a doctor that could care less about how you may feel, this is the one for you. She is really good at it.
