CADILLAC— Robert L. Hill, of Cadillac, died Friday, December 22, 2017, at Curry House Assisted Living in Cadillac. He was 88.
Bob was born on October 23, 1929, in Cadillac, to Andrew and Eva (Truax) Hill.
He was employed during his life at several different jobs, sometimes working two jobs to make sure his family never went without. Early in his career he worked at Kysor Heater during the day and did TV repair for Lyle Smith’s at night and on Saturday.
Bob then became employed at the Wexford County Sheriff’s Department. He loved being a road patrol deputy and working undercover as a drug officer. He always had a sense of adventure and, early on, enjoyed living his life on the edge.
Later, Bob was elected Sheriff of Wexford County. His family was so proud of the passion he had for his job and for others. Besides being committed to his job, he was deeply committed to his family. There is no doubt that his daughters and grandchildren were very important to him.
Bob married the former Rubedene Longstreet in Angola, Indiana, and she survives him along with daughters, Janice (Darwin) Booher and Robin (Chuck) Keysor, all of Evart; grandchildren: Kimberly (RJ) Booher-Hammer, Chad (Amy) Booher, Jason Booher, Meko Olman, Casey (Charlene) Keysor, and Kylee (Chris) Pulver; great-grandchildren: Logan and Madison Hammer, Andrew, Christian, and Jacob Booher, Aidan Olman and Callie, Caden, Clay and Caleb Keysor; his brother, Richard Hill of Florida; sisters, Arlene Codden of Cadillac and Vera Maes of Flint; and a sister-in-law, Marjorie Tossey of Cadillac.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Rachelle Hill; brothers: Claude, Clyde and Keith; and sisters: Helen and Maxine and baby sister, Milessa.
In accordance with Bob’s wishes, cremation has taken place and his final resting place will be Fairview Cemetery in Manton. An online guestbook is available at www.petersonfh.com.
