This has always been our go to place when we visit Ann Arbor. This time the food was so disappointing. 3 in our party had she crab soup. The crab was MIA but the corn was plentiful and the cream soup almost as thick as gravy. Our fish was overcooked and smothered in sauce to cover it up. Dessert was the best part. Our server Chiara was wonderful but she couldn't make up for a less than mediocre very expensive dinner. So disappointing.

We had some hits and misses during our dinner here. The roasted and raw oysters were excellent. The paella was exceptional and it was fun to create it yourself by opening the shelled creatures to disgorge the tasty bits before stirring that in with the saffron rice and green peas. Two of us at the table ordered this and, unfortunately, the shrimp was way overcooked in both, which detracted from an otherwise tasty dish. Another at our table was excited to order the walleye, but it was "just okay". The other issue we had was no one coming by to remove our dirty plates/serving dishes. As our dinner progressed, they mounted on our table. Situated near us in a walkway was a servers tray that was also piled high with dirty plates. Perhaps they had manpower issues that night, but they could have mentioned that.

The wait staff was fantastic. The food was very good but quite pricey for what you get. Differ for 2 with 2 drinks was 145 before tip for moderate meals. I had the blackened sord fish and my wife had the salmon. It was a very nice experience but defiantly not a normal dinner out for the cost. EX beers were $10 a piece

I am finally getting around to posting this review I hesitate it only because it used to be such a great restaurant. When we got there for our reservation, the restaurant smelled like it was dirty, like a dirty rug and greasy floors, the bathrooms were not clean always a great indicator of people that don’t really care about the customers comfort. We were seated. The waiter seemed pleasant enough, but very inexperienced, most likely because it’s hard to find help at this point, so we figured excuse that. There was warm bread served much later than usual almost just before the dinner came. We were told that they did not have crab which was hugely disappointing since that’s our tradition but nothing we could do about that. We went there for my birthday on August 20. It is a family tradition for more than 20 years to go for our family birthdays and get the Crab Legs dinner. We almost always ordered the crab, stewed tomatoes, and coleslaw, this time when we went, they didn’t have the stewed tomatoes or the coleslaw, that’s fine. But what they did have was terrible. We ordered the lobster because they were having the lobster fest. The side dishes were some sort of creamy cold potato, something. When the lobster came it was very small hardly any meat to it. Then came some of the worst parts, the waiter broke down the lobster for me, gave me some sort of butter mixture that he said was clarified butter, but I don’t believe it because it tasted more like oil not clarified butter. I asked him why it was not served with a candle to keep the butter warm, and he said, “the candles are pretty much worn”, out at which point I thought what- they have worn out candles and they don’t replace them and this is how they serve butter now? The whole experience was just awful. It took us forever to get the check - super over charge for a small lobster and terrible side dishes, mediocre service, and a dirty restaurant. I don’t know what happened to real seafood, but I will never go there again nor will I recommend it, and certainly will not take friends there. Such a shame it was such a great place to go.

We were delighted to find this wonderful restaurant! Eddie the manager was great to work with--it was hard to find a restaurant in Ann Arbor that would allow us to reserve a table for a large party outdoors on a busy summer Saturday. He seated us in a delightful outdoor atrium area that was covered in case of inclement weather. We enjoyed fresh, delicious seafood, with attentive, wonderful service. For a festive outdoor gathering with amazing food, this is the place!

The best part of the visit was watching my grandson enjoy his Paella. WE arrived for our 4:15 reservation. Only one table was occupied. The very unfriendly and silent Maitre d took us to our table clear in the back between 2 kitchen doors. Our waiter was very pleasant. One of the dishes we ordered ws shrimp.scampi style. First a small bowl of cole slaw was plunked down. later came a large white dish with 7 or so shrimp rolling around the plate. There was nothing else on the p late and it was visually ugly!! The shrimp were undercooked. They were sent back and when brought back, they had obviously been recooked (should have been replaced) They were like rubber. And then a small white plate was set down with chunks of potato. Not hot ,not good. Appetite gone! Food and much money wasted. Very disappointing...unnecessarily.

Great food. Horrible service. Meal took 2 1/2 hours. Came in at 5. Wasnt busy at all. 20 minutes for drinks. 30 minutes for bread. Was thinking kitchen was short staffed, but waiter would disappear for long stretches. Empty drinks and bread. Forgot our oysters. Forgot wifes cole slaw with dinner. Tried to give us a wrong entree. Tacos were cold. Apparently credit card machine had an issue. They had us sign old carbon copy paper with name and phone number.

We have eaten at this restaurant many times over the years and often it is our go to for family celebrations. Recently while in Ann Arbor for Thanksgiving we ordered food via a delivery service and the quality of the food was horrible. The manager tried to blame the deliver service however, the food was delivered promptly, it was the quality that so poor. We could not even eat most of the food. Apparently we were not the only one have problems that evening as when the manager offered to send us a gift card he addressed it to another customer who also had a negative experience that evening. The manager also stated he would refund our meal; however, because we ordered through a delivery service he said we had to through them for a refund. The delivery service is now saying we need to seek reimbursement via Real Seafood. Such a hassle. I don't think they are doing well after the pandemic, the quality has gone down hill, their customer service lacks and overall this experience will prevent us from eating here again.

We were planning on going to real seafood. That day it was Birthday and noticed 50% off on the day of your birthday. This was also posted on numerous sites. I was thinking great. When we were seated the waitor asked if we were celebrating something today? I answered yes its my birthday . He continued with what was good on the menu. Our dinner came and my red skin potatoes were not cooked until done. I didn't say anything because I just finished a bowl of chowder and was feeling full already. We ordered crab cakes they were just ok. I wanted a frozen margarita they don't do frozen. If was hot hot summer day. Frozen margarita would of been perfect way to start. In the end I pulled out my license, waitor noticed and said we don't do birthday discounts anymore. I thought he was joking he wasn't. Oh I ended up ordering a beer again hot summer day my beer wasn't ice cold. I usually don't write reviews. I'm hoping to save someone from going and being disappointed on their special day or any day.

Four of us dined here on a Saturday evening. The restaurant is a bit noisy, but it has a nice atmosphere. The service was good. We started with drinks and appetizers (oysters and the steam pot of clams & mussels). For entrees, we chose perch, swordfish, scallops, and scampi pasta. All were delicious.

We loved going here for our birthday meals. They have great food and you would basically get a free meal. We went there today for my husband's birthday and told them it was his birthday and they said nothing about the policy change. We ordered and then wanted to confirm that all food was included in the birthday special even appetizers and then he decided to tell us that they no longer have the birthday special. If we did not specifically ask we would have found out after we ate and got our bill. I feel that is very deceptive. We ended up walking out. As soon as they here there is a birthday they should inform the guest of the change. So sad.

Started with a dozen oysters. They were definitely fresh, tested really good. The bread basket was warm and delicious. We ordered paella, gumbo, salmon, and a chicken ceaser salad. Everyone enjoyed their meal. Highly recommended.

There are so many great restaurants in Ann Arbor that it is hard to choose. However, I felt that we chose a winner. We enjoyed the lively, relaxed atmosphere. We both had the Blue Plate Dinner which included shrimp, scallops, flounder and a crab cake. It was a nice variety. The waiter was knowledgeable but a bit harried. He did make us aware that my friend's meal was free since it was his birthday!

Always have the best meals here! Always! Blue plate special is always good. Service is fabulous. Atmosphere is wonderful. Nice quiet booths. Fresh fresh fish. Pasta dishes are good. Keylime pie is the best in the city. Crème brûlée is fabulous also.

This is one of my favorite restaurants so this review is based on a single visit and is for the management. I ordered 2 lobster rolls for takeout while having a glass of wine and shrimp cocktail when waiting. The shrimp and wine were excellent. The lobster rolls, which we've had before were very bad. Very little lobster and way over-spiced, made for a poor dinner. Someone needs to taste these items before they go out the door. There are only a few places in SE Michigan that even have lobster rolls on their menu and these are normally the best. These were just bad. Won't stop me from coming back, but was not very happy to see the lack of management that let these get served.
