Memorial Service for Edward Ray “Poppa Ray” Hobbs, 69, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 3, 2015 at Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel, Irmo. The family will greet friends following the service at the funeral home. Mr. Hobbs passed away Monday, March 30, 2015. Born in Magnolia, NC, he was a son of the late George Edward Hobbs and Josie Barfield Gibbs. Mr. Hobbs was a retired general contractor. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who impacted the lives of many children. Surviving are his wife, Carolyn Jones Hobbs; son, Steven Ray Hobbs; daughter, Kimberly Hobbs Reeser; two granddaughters, and brother, Roger Hobbs. He was preceded in death by two grandbabies. I am so sorry to hear about ray. He was one of my heroes he was like a timex watch, he just kept "ticking" no matter what life gave him. We had some great times in high school. He will always be a wonderful memory for me and many others.
