In the hospital over 8 hrs they said we don't have food for clients. This hospital only want your insurance money.

Called about 7 times and couldn't get someone to answer the front desk. Whoever is being paid to be at the front desk is not doing their job. Thousands of unemployed people in Chicago would jump at the opportunity to answer a phone for money. But this person was elsewhere for about a half hour(the time span that I called all those times). WHAT ELSE WOULD U BE DOING ANSWER THE PHONE

My surgeon was excellent and skilled. The same day surgery staff was impatient and in a huge hurry to get me out on time after my surgery. It was closing time and even tjough I was shakey, nauseous and still in.pain, I was sent on my way with a " don't let the door hit you on the way out" attitude. So doped up from the anesthesia so my sister in law who brought me fully experienced what happened. One of the nurses actually asked her if my sister in law had a mint for my nausea. A MINT for post anesthesia nausea!? I feel I needed more time and was hurried out. Bad experience.

Staff is nice and all but this hospital needs some updates done. Also, parking is scarce.

This may not be the newest hospital in the city but I was laid off and had no insurance. The staff took very good care of me from the time I walked into the emergency room until 4 days later when I was discharged. I had very competent doctors that made sure I understood what they were diagnosing me with. Asked me several times if I had questions for them and gave me answers I understood.

Ok, this has got to be the worst hospital I have ever been to!! They run you around from Department to Department. I've been getting told multiple things about getting my medications and quite frankly for 2017 there's no excuse for this type of lack of communication and lack of care for their patients they've got attitude which is terrible and after I get all my lab results I am done with this place I will never come back here again! I'm going to find more information to post bad reviews about this facility. I've got better treatment at this small Clinic I used to go to the new facility they should have closed this hospital I see why we talked about closing this place it should be close. This is a waste of taxpayer dollars and a big waste of Chicago's money needs to be shut down!

My mother is getting eye surgery today. 6 months ago she had one eye done and today it's the other one. The security guard wasn't too happy about having to check in people at 6am but other wise it was a great experience. The nurses are really great about making my mother feel at ease. Which is not easy with her. She was so scared last time they had to talk her into going through with it. Thank you for treating her well. Oh and the cook in the cafeteria does a pretty good job too. For a cafeteria it's very inexpensive.

This hospital is by far the worst hospital I've ever been to. I came in today because I was sick with a cold and I was also starting to become dizzy and disoriented. I waited at the check in desk for 10 minutes. I didn't see a receptionist but there was an employee in the office behind the desk who noticed me and allowed me to check in. I gave her all of my information and I also described the symptoms I've been experiencing. I was told to wait in the lobby until I was called. A nurse comes to the lobby calling my first name, (she couldn't pronounce my last name) saying she had called me over the intercom, which was a lie. I enter into the room and the nurse started asking me follow up questions. I was then told that I would have to wait in the lobby again because I left out information that I didn't. Overall if you have the time or the means to go to another facility, definitely do so. This hospital isn't worth the extra stress or energy that you will lose.

I've made a few visits here, and I recently had day or outpatient surgery. I didn't know what to expect, but i was very pleased with the outcome. Provident has only medical and surgery services and a limited number of patient rooms. But there is medical care, surgery, and a pharmacy. All the staff members here were helpful, courteous and professional. The nurses and docs were great as well. They provided lots of good communication about the procedure and were just very friendly and helpful. I was a little concerned when my anesthesiologist looked a bit like Peter Lorre, but, hey, I did wake up! The discharge instructions included a Get Well card signed by all the staff who were involved in my care. Nice touch! If you ever have occasion to get a referral here, as I did from Stroger/Cook County, you will probably be in good hands. Professional, efficient, and considerate patient-centered care.

This guy writing a review for Provident Hospital of Chicago 11/14/13 has to work at Provident, knows someone who works at provident, or is a very important person. I have been all over Provident Hospital: pharmacy, E.R., 6th floor, etc. Of course anywhere you go you will have problems. Nothing in life is perfect. And you do have some professional people there. But for the most part the staff is unprofessional, inconsiderate, disrespectful, and lacking empathy for the patient. I am sure many of the professional staff would agree. The ones who stand by his or her co-worker and listen to the gossip, look and observe their co-workers on personal calls while they should be attending patients . The attitude and snappy remarks towards patients. Once again I have seen a few professional people at Provident but not many. And in a place where life and death exist every day we need 100% professional attitude and behavior. They must learn to leave their personal problems at home. Learn not to treat the patient like he or she is one of there: children, husband or boyfriends, siblings, parents, etc. Learn to have an objective attitude in spite of what their personal opinions or experiences may be. Each patient is entitled to be treated with respect and as an individual. Not treated according to a bad experience by another patient or because of a drug addict at home. Anyone who says anything good about Provident hospital is a liar and has to work there, or something, because the problems at Provident hospital is obvious and Ray Charles can see this and not only is Ray Charles blind he's also deceased.
